Release Blitz !!! Taking Connor by B N Toler.

There’s a stereotype for how a convicted felon appears to the public.

Connor Stevens fit that bill.

His reputation preceded him. With a hard body and vivid tattoos dispersed across his flesh, he certainly drew the judgmental eyes of conservative tight-asses. Even I had those same thoughts…regardless of how highly Blake spoke of him.

But those opinions were about to be challenged.

I’d promised to pick Connor up from prison—where he’d served eight years for manslaughter. When Blake passed away, I had every intention of honoring our agreement. Taking Connor home would be my ultimate show of gratitude. Blake never disclosed why Connor killed a man, and I never had the guts to ask. Ever daunted, and against my better judgment, I soon grew to feel close to Connor, in spite of how perverse it was. Still, I vowed to brush off those feelings at all costs.

At least I thought I would. Until all hell broke loose…

Diving head-first, I relished in the time spent in Connor’s damnation. But when he was thrust into hell, it didn’t matter how wrong it was to love him. It was immaterial what he’d done…or why. I came out swinging and clawing, and submerged into the inferno with him, refusing to leave until we both walked out hand in hand. My instinct was to fight.

Connor wouldn’t burn alone.

I would save him.

Or turn to ash right beside him.

Sky's review of "Vice" by Rosanna Leo. 5 big effin' stars!

25409656Vice, by Rosanna Leo
My rating: 5 stars
POV: Dual POV's and in 3rd person

Blurb:
As a Vegas singer and volunteer counselor, Kate Callender has experienced life on both sides of Sin City’s bright lights. The thrill of performing, and gambling’s devastating effect on the addicts’ families.
Liam Doyle is just the kind of man she despises—a handsome, enigmatic businessman with a knack for seducing customers into his casino hotels. Determined to put a lid on his growing influence, she prepares to picket the opening of his newest casino, Vice.
When Liam spots the lone protestor hassling his customers, annoyance wars with instant attraction. And he quickly discovers the leggy redhead not only can’t be bought, she tempts him the way the sound of a roulette wheel lures a gambler.
They are natural enemies, but when a vile attack sparks Liam’s protective instincts, they begin a sexual odyssey that dances on the edge of addiction. Dangerously close to losing control...and losing themselves.

Sky's Review:

Rosanna Leo steals my heart again---as usual---with her second addition to the contemporary romance genre. This book takes you through a series of heartache, thrill, and even through all the scary bits and emotional strain, it still has that humorous charm that made me fall in love with Leo’s books to begin with! (Apart from the drool-worthy shifters that star in her other novels *fans herself*)
The story follows two characters who take turns in their own point-of-views—third person—as they each struggle to fight their demons in the dark underworld of Las Vegas. One who is haunted by childhood memories of a father who has still yet to come to his senses; and the other, a man who has been abandoned in all areas of his life who puts all of his effort into building a life for himself to which he can control.
Both characters plucked at my heartstrings until they were all worn out and bent out of shape. I can’t count all the times I grew teary-eyed as I watched these characters learn to trust again and begin to heal.

It all begins when Vegas singer, Kate Callender---who also volunteers as a counselor at a gamblers anon group---finds herself unemployed and fed up with all the bad crap that happens to herself and her friends at New Horizons. Her first victim for a protest against gambling is the new shiny casino, Vice, owned by the man who they feel is ruining the lives of families with each casino he drops down on the strip.
Kate was certainly on a mission that could not be deterred, not even by the devilishly handsome owner of Vice, himself, Liam Doyle, as he stared menacingly down at her with his husky-blue eyes. Though, later, her mission does comes to an abrupt halt when she’s clued in on the soft side of the man who she once thought to be selfish and unrelenting, seeing through his tough façade. Liam is not the man he portray's himself to be.

After battling between her morals and her need to help others---and hilarious bouts between the two of them---they find each other talking one night and agreed to a pact to hit rock bottom together. I absolutely loved this part; I couldn’t stop smiling for the life of me!

Their pact to hit rock bottom together did not come easily, though . . . *smile slowly fades*

A stormy romance brews between the characters. A relationship that’s fraught with sorrow and an unsettling need to replace words with carnal intimacy is born as Liam refuses to say what’s weighing down on his heart. She implores him relentlessly, to help him as he did for her; but it only makes him shut down even more and burries his pain by losing himself inside her. Finally, Kate decides this unhealthy relationship has lasted much longer than it should have. The passion between them was unlike no other, but already fighting with the realization she needs to live by her words and stop feeding her father’s gambling addiction, she needed to stop being the crutch that she felt she was to Liam’s fear of letting go.

This is where the waterworks began for me. The entire last half of the book had me gripping my Kindle with damp hands, unsure of what was to come of this heart-breaking story. If it’s not too much of a semi-spoiler though, for you HEA fans, you will not be disappointed!  I was deeply moved by the choices the characters make by the end, and so deeply relieved! I won’t say what I want to say about the very ending because it will give it away no matter how hard I try to make it subtle.

I saw Kate as having has a weary soul, she wants to believe in the good of others but her childhood prevents her from being able to trust anyone else but herself.
Liam is one tough cookie, a realtor tycoon, a fierce businessman,  but what no one sees, is his true benevolent nature and the heart-wrenching truth that drives him to be successful

OOO! Another character who almost stole the show in my eyes is Wade, Liam’s trusty security guard and best friend. I adored him so hard! Also, the steamy, wild, sex between Kate and Liam will leave you breathless and weak in the knees---so find a comfortable spot to cozy up with this read! Five HUGE stars for this book. I recommend this to EVERYONE! I felt it was written by the authors heart, and it truly is inspiring, so many words of wisdom for anyone whose lives have been affected by gamblers or of any type of addiction in their family.

Million Dollar Que$tion
by Ellie Campbell
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Women's Fiction, ChickLit
Release Date: April 25, 2015

Just as a huge financial scandal ejects Olivia Wheeler from her high-flying Manhattan job and high-society engagement, a silver Mercedes pulls up at lonely single-mother Rosie Dixon’s house with a cheque for one million pounds from the Premium Bonds.  Two very different strokes  of luck.  And yet both women have more in common than they realize.  While Olivia struggles with the humiliations of surviving in London broke and homeless, shy unassuming Rosie discovers that unexpected wealth arrives with its own mega-load of problems.

Can a career-obsessed workaholic find a passion for something earthier and warmer than cold hard cash? And can Rosie sift through envy and greed to discover true friends, true family and even true love?

Two strangers who've never met. Yet neither realises how each is affecting the other’s destiny or the places their paths touch and fates entwine.
But will they surmount the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune?

That is the million dollar question.

CHAPTER 1

Rosie Dixon perched herself on the hard plastic chair, watching the drawing take shape. A line, followed by a squiggle. Snake maybe? Then what looked like a head of a person with ears on top. And was that a saddle on its back or—

‘Do you like it, Miss?’ Emily asked.

‘Oh yes, it’s good.’ Rosie smiled encouragement as the young girl plucked another crayon from the Tupperware box and worked earnestly, tongue curled stiffly against her cheek in concentration. ‘Extremely good. I love the bright colours you've chosen.’

Finished, Emily pointed at the purple object. ‘What do you think that is?’

‘Um. Let’s see.’ Rosie peered closer. It vaguely resembled a bear, although how that fitted in with the ‘My Family at Home’ project, heaven knew. She didn't want to offend but… ‘What’s his name?’

‘Bruno.’

Ah yes. ‘Bruno the bear. Of course.’

‘Bear?’ The girl shook her two perfect bunches and wrinkled her tiny freckled nose. ‘It’s not a bear, Miss, it’s a chocolate Labrador. Mummy’s boyfriend has one. Durr…’

‘Well it’s lovely.’ Rosie stood up. ‘And I’m Rosie, remember?’

Not that Rosie didn't appreciate being called Miss, she did. Made her feel like a teacher, although the rather less grand title of ‘Teaching Assistant’ suited her fine. She’d been working at Avondale Infants for eighteen months now, supporting primary-aged pupils in classes of thirty-plus without needing to fret about parents’ evenings, lesson plans and the mountains of paperwork expected of a real teacher. She loved the small children and the hours meant she could still collect her own two sons from junior school.

‘Miss?’ Max, angelic curls disguising an impish spirit, frowned at his latest creation. ‘Can you help me?’

‘Shove over then.’ She nudged him playfully, as she squeezed beside him. Who’d have ever thought that she, shy little Rosie, always too timid to raise her hand in class, would be making a difference, however small, in the world of education? Just showed that good could come from the direst of situations. Even if it had taken a broken heart and some other God-awful trials to get her here.

She tucked a lock of shoulder-length hair behind her ear and handed Max a glue stick.

All things considered she really was incredibly lucky.

$$$

Mid-morning, the kettle in the staffroom had boiled and Rosie’s fellow teaching assistant, Gemma, was handing round the custard creams. Also in her early thirties, Gemma was recently divorced and had a secret obsession with The X Factor’s Simon Cowell that Rosie was sworn, on pain of death, never to reveal.

‘Anyone got an astrophysics degree?’ Carol, teacher of Orange Class, leafed through a stack of forms, eyebrows furrowed. ‘Certainly need one to fill in all these bloody risk assessments. Talk about ’elf and safety!’

Rosie joined in the laughter as she dropped a teabag in a smiley face mug. She was about to ask her colleagues, flopped onto chairs for their short break, if they were all right for beverages when Pauline Dawkins, Admin Officer, sidled up, a giant birthday card tucked under one paisley-clad arm.

‘Barry’s fiftieth. Whip-round,’ she hissed, spy-like from the corner of her mouth, as if the sole male teacher might burst in and discover the dastardly plot. ‘Drinks and cake at four.’

Pauline took her charge of The Birthday Book extremely seriously. Rosie had suffered the same ordeal when she’d turned thirty-three in March.

‘Oh, I’d love to be there, but I've my sons to pick up.’ Dutifully she scribbled, ‘Have a great day, Barry!’ unable to conjure anything witty or mildly original.

The envelope under her nose was stuffed with pound coins and larger notes. Rosie opened her ancient leatherette handbag, pushed aside her soggy egg sandwich and peeked inside her purse.

A lonely fiver lay folded next to a single fifty pence piece.

Her heart sank. That cash had to last the next two days until her monthly salary reached her bank. The twins, being eleven, always needed money for this or that and Charlie’s cheque was late again.

But then again poor Barry had recently lost his wife. Fifty pence seemed so stingy and she’d never dare offer the five pound note and ask for change.

There was an uncomfortable beat. Rosie’s fingers froze. Nobody was paying attention but still damp pooled in her armpits and along her hairline, her insecurities running rampant under Pauline’s scrutiny.

Was she assessing the havoc a runaway husband could create? Maybe worse – thinking it no wonder he’d strayed? If Rosie had once felt young, pretty and loved, it had all vanished with the end of her marriage. She cursed herself for not finding something smarter to wear than the skanky black cords pilled from the washing machine and a faded cotton blouse (Selfridges Sale 70% off) which sagged where it used to cling. And she’d totally messed up her hair attempting to add subtle honey-gold streaks from a Superdrug box to her mousy-brown frizz and ended up with tiger stripes instead.

Blow it, she thought, and handed over the fiver with a flourish, smiling to silence the warning pang from her gut.

‘Ta ever so.’ Pauline stuffed the note in the envelope. ‘We want to buy him a special present. Poor devil’s all on his lonesome…’ She broke off, fiddling with the plastic ID badge dangling from her neck. ‘I didn't mean…well, it’s different for you with those darling boys, never a dull minute in your house, I’m sure.’ Her eyes fired with matchmaking zeal. ‘Now there’s a thought. Don’t suppose you and Barry…?’

‘No. Really.’ Rosie tried looking appreciative instead of appalled. Bearded bespectacled Barry was even more tortuously shy than Rosie and any attempts to speak made him extra nervous. They only had to reach the kettle at the same time and Rosie could feel her hands sweat, watching him twitch and stammer. As for fireworks, there’d be more sparks with two squibs in a rainstorm.

‘Just an idea.’ Pauline shrugged it off. She was basically a kind woman, Rosie thought, whatever catty things people said – just maybe a touch too blunt for the fragile sensitivities of a mostly female environment. And it must be excruciating asking people to hand over cash.

Pauline left to corner someone else and Rosie slumped onto an empty seat, tea forgotten. Two years since Charlie had walked out and no one – except Rosie in the secret corners of her soul – believed he was ever coming back. The beautiful home they’d spent ages lovingly doing up had been sold, Rosie and the boys now installed in a tatty two-bed terrace in a scruffy housing estate, where luckily the neighbours had welcomed her as one of their own.

Better off without him, everyone declared. What self-respecting woman stayed with a cheat after all? Outraged friends wanted him to suffer and occasionally Rosie did too. Not in a nasty, vengeful way, but at least to experience a few twinges of her own devastation.

She had fantasies in which he came crawling back, grief-stricken over what he’d carelessly tossed aside. She’d imagine herself on the arm of Colin Farrell, wearing a fiery-red figure-hugging dress, strikingly elegant, flawlessly made-up, her belly flat and her legs mysteriously three inches longer. She’d be ice-cool, telling him it was too late but usually in these daydreams – and she knew it was wrong – just as Charlie left, dejected, her stony heart would relent, she’d apologise to Colin, kick off her heels and run to Charlie’s joyful arms.

Other times her sleep betrayed her. She’d walk in the kitchen to find Charlie cooking spaghetti bolognese, wearing only a chef’s apron and an endearingly rueful smile. Silly stuff. Like last night – they’d sat in the bath together, him soaping her back. So convincing was this dream that in the morning she’d lazily stretched out her arm to him, forgetting that his side of the bed was empty and cold. He’d been her best friend and lover for so long. Not easy persuading her subconscious to switch from love to hate. Or even indifference. And he’d been such a caring father to Luke and Tim. Were they truly ‘better off without him’?

Determined not to submerge into despondency, she jumped up and tackled the backlog of crockery clogging the staffroom kitchenette.

Damn. She’d thought she’d got past all those predictable emotional stages, familiar to her as commuter stations. Denial. Shock. Anger. Depression. Last stop – Guilt – where she still lingered, scolding herself for not leaping to action the second Charlie’s secretary warned her about the female customer who showed more interest in the showroom’s Sales Manager than the vehicles on sale.

And why hadn't she? Jumped? Leapt? Fought?

Because it had been unthinkable. Laughable even. With the red flag flapping inches from her face, Rosie had brushed it away with a smile, too certain of her husband to fall for that alarmist nonsense. This was Charlie, after all, her soul mate, who’d rescued her in her darkest hours, made her believe in her own worth after years of her mother’s jibes. He loved her even if she had grown two dress sizes finishing the kids’ meals, barely ever wore make-up, slumped around the home in baggy sweatshirts and couldn't stay awake to watch an entire film when the boys were finally in bed.

‘…first out. Hey, what’s so fascinating about that sponge? You've been staring at it ages.’

Rosie hadn't realised Gemma had joined her at the sink, let alone that she’d been speaking.

‘Sorry, Gem.’ She came out of her daze. ‘What was that?’

‘I was saying that as long as it’s not last in, first out, ’cos technically speaking…’ Gemma pushed her glasses up her nose and gave Rosie a meaningful glance before picking up a tea towel.

‘Technically speaking…?’

Gemma sighed as she wiped a saucer. ‘Rosie, you dingbat, did you hear a word I said? That meeting with the union reps yesterday, Carol’s just filled me in. They’re talking staff cuts. Redundancies. Teaching assistants in particular. Some of us – God knows how many – are for the chop!’

Interview with Scott D. Southard, author of Permanent Spring Showers!

Everyone, say hello to Mr. Southard! This is his second appearance on our blog and I couldn't be more excited! He's the author of, A Jane Austen Day Dream, My Problem with Doors, and many more fun titles. Today, we are going to talk a little about his new release, Permanent Spring showers and get to know him a little more. So, sit down, grab a drink, and hang out with us for a bit!
Also, make sure to stick around to see who the lucky winner of  a personal, autographed copy of his new release is! Comment below to be added to the draw!

Sky: Welcome back to our blog, I'm thrilled to have
another opportunity to chat with you!
The last time we spoke, it was about your novel, A Jane Austen Daydream. Have you revisited some of those characters lately or maybe thought of working on any other stories inspired by her? The way you channeled her voice through that story was phenomenal!
Scott: Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it. I’ve had this question a few times, but sadly I see A Jane Austen Daydream very much as a complete story. To continue the story of “my” Jane would be to take her completely out of the realm of historical fiction and out of her world.  It may seem weird to say this, but it feels like I would have been taking too many liberties with Ms. Austen.
Honestly, I’ve never been the kind of writer to think about sequels. Usually, if I have more ideas I try to rope them into the main story I am working on. I have found when writers start a book thinking it is only one book in a series they pull their punches, saving their best twists and turns for a future book that might not happen. Nay, I just want to write the best book possible.

Sky: That’s a very wise concern to keep in mind, and if those twists and turns are so inspiring, they could make that one story all the more powerful in case the future is unclear.
Scott: Of course, that is not to say someday I might not write a trilogy of some sort (I am a fan of Tolkien and it would be wonderful to do something for YA readers). And Jane Austen is still around in my head. There is a big reference to Darcy in my new novel Permanent Spring Showers. So there you go.

Sky: From the magic of your imagination that  I have witnessed in your current work,  I strongly believe you have what it takes to write a fantastic YA series, I would love to one day maybe hear that you have!

I definitely caught that reference and it made my heart SOAR! hahaha
Now about this amazing new piece of work you have brought to life, what inspired the New-Reality idea for Permanent Spring Showers? It's so fun and devious!
Scott: New-Reality Fiction is an idea I’ve been considering for quite some time. Originally, it was going to be its own work, following an author trying to change his entire world into a novel, and how it doesn't work out as he had hoped. It never got past the note stage though.
Who knows? Maybe it is inspired a little by the odd choices that James Frey did in A Million Little Pieces since he had no problem changing his life story for the benefit of his book (and make him look good).

Permanent Spring Showers is loosely based on a screenplay I wrote years and years ago (it actually is what got me accepted in grad school at the University of Southern California back then). Of course, by the second chapter it is very much its own story. I’m really proud of the final book. New-Reality Fiction was not part of the original script. I needed a hook to explain the character of Jenn (beyond her hair color that she changes with her mood). Of course, Jenn is very subtle about it. It’s all about dropping an idea and seeing what happens; like dropping a rock in water and watching the waves spread out.

Sky:  I love when that happens-- you may plan to write one idea and it just grows into a bigger picture with more depth. Do you plan on writing another book based off of New-Reality again? *crosses fingers*
Scott: No, not at this time. But don’t worry, I do have other ideas I am really proud of on the way. There is always an interesting “quirk” in each of my novels (it is typically the spark that inspires me).

Sky: That quirk is what keeps me so hooked, I can’t wait!

Scott: For example, My Problem With Doors is definitely a new twist on the time travel story, and Megan is about the fantasies we have in our head (of course in hers she is a superhero and a princess). Both those books are out in print and eBook as well, published by I Publish Press. You should check them out.
Sky: Historical adventures, I am all about this--and I want to meet Megan, I’ll totally be her sidekick lol!

I am always so intrigued to see what you write next, your style and worlds are so addictive and surely a favorite of mine, so I have to ask! Are there any new books of yours in the works that we could look forward to soon?
Scott: The new book I am working on is very special to me. It’s not ready to escape yet. It is still stewing in the pot.

Sky: Completely understandable--sometimes the stories closer to our heart need more time to put more love into it.
Scott: I do have a new novel I hope to find an agent or publisher for down the road (so I have some query letters in my future with a lot of crossed fingers, I'm always looking for opportunities for my books). That one is called Cassandra on the Island. I like to compare it to an impressionist painting, but about a person’s entire life and second chances. A big part of it is the idea of finding little magic in life. Probably easiest the most beautiful of my novels.
Hopefully we will be able to talk about it in the future.
Sky: I have a feeling it will be a great book that many could relate to and be inspired by so I will definitely be crossing my fingers for you and wish you some luck! I will definitely be hoping we can catch up once you get the good news. ;-D

Sky: Now, a little more about yourself!
If you weren't a writer--a sad thought for us fans-- what other occupations have you dreamed of as a career?
Scott: Actually, when I went to college it was on a jazz music scholarship! I used to play saxophone (alto and soprano). I dreamed then of being Charlie Parker and John Coltrane, but I quickly realized while in college that I had went as far as I could. My solos always sounded like I was repeating myself. It was not meant to be.

Sky: That is awesome, seriously--the fact that you can play the saxaphone makes you a star in my book. The more we talk, the more I see why I like you and your work so much!
Scott: Music is a big influence on my writing, so in many ways music has never left me. And many of my stories are tempered by what I am listening to at the time. For example, with Permanent Spring Showers I could only listen to Fiona Apple. Seriously, the story wouldn’t work unless she was on in the background.

So if the creativity wasn’t there around my writing, I’m sure I would have been trying to do something around music. I can’t escape it.

Sky: Oh wow, I am thinking back onto some of the scenes from your book and imagining one of her albums playing in the background, I can totally see it now!
I think this also calls for a sooner-than-planned re-read of Permanent Spring Showers and a couple Fiona Apple C.D.s to wind me down after work today ;-D
In fact, maybe our readers can join in on the fun after the interview! And maybe while they grab your book, they can take a visit to your websites. Where can they go online to connect with you and find more of your current work?
Scott: There are quite a few places where people can find me. The first is my blog, “The Musings & Artful Blunders of Scott D. Southard” at sdsouthard. I try to write on the site two or so times a week (and I write about all subjects), plus I share updates on my work. You can learn about everything there, including my other novels.
I also do the book reviews for my local NPR station (WKAR). I appear on their radio show Current State every other week with a new review. It’s great since now only do I get a chance to share new books with the listeners, I also get to talk about classic writers and novels important to me.

Sky: This is where my jaw drops yet once again, lol! That has to be the funnest, most fulfilling gigs, ever.
Scott: After that you can find me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ScottDSouthard), Twitter (@SDSouthard) and Pinterest. All of my books can be found on Amazon as well.

Sky: Thank you so, so much for visiting us again, it has been so much fun learning even more about you, and as always, hope to see you again! Also, my fingers will be perma-crossed until Cassandra on the Island gets picked up by a publisher. xx

Below is a blurb for Permanent Spring Showers and a review!

Blurb: Professor Rebecca Stanley-Wilson is having a very bad season. Her husband has just admitted to having an affair. And it was with one of her students.

Blame it on a desire for revenge (or way too much alcohol), she then has had one of her own. Unfortunately for her, her affair was with one of the great upcoming painters of his generation. The ramifications of that one torrid evening will not only be felt across her life but over the entire art world.

Sexy, funny, and very surprising, Permanent Spring Showers is the tale of one very memorable springtime and how it impacts a group of unique artists and dreamers. From the writer who is creating a new literary movement (through outright manipulation) to the hopeful Olympian with the failing marriage to the romantic wondering what he did wrong to drive his love from him, each tale walks the line between reality and fantasy. And waiting at the end of the line is a very important painting… and possibly the revolver used in the Lincoln Assassination.

Sky's Review: With a cast of lively, artistic characters and a spin so hard it will leave your eyes wide and jaw hanging until the very last word.
Each set of characters in this book all seems to be a part of a bigger plan, a movement, if you will. A variety of authors and artists alike are manipulating the people around them to achieve the bigger picture--even marriages aren't off limits in this scheme! The premise of this so called plan, reminds me a lot of the devious mastermind producers behind your favorite reality show--in fact, that’s exactly what it is, but in a new and upcoming genre in literature called, “New-Reality”
In order to achieve the desired effect, the “author” goes out into the world and finds a suitable “character”, one that may be easily manipulated and they begin to do their best to direct the characters life into something that would be entertaining once on paper. The author may become a part of the characters life to easier attain the control, may it be as a spouse, a friend, and even family.

Not everyone has an easy time though, guilt is strong in one of our characters, and possible actual love.
All around, I feel this story will stick with me forever as I have never read anything like it and each character in this story felt so real, that I had found myself attaching to them and their emotions! Standing ovation to Mr. Southard for a brilliant piece of work

Review By Sky - Blind Passion, by Bonnie Dee

Blind Passion, by Bonnie Dee
BLURB:
Leah Schaeffer has come a long way since an accident took her sight. She’s finally ready for independence, but convincing her wealthy parents she’ll be safe on her own isn’t easy. The first night in her own place at last, she encounters her neighbor with the midnight velvet voice and her world shifts again.

Since finishing a military tour, J.D. Wyatt has struggled both financially and emotionally. When Leah’s parents hire him to act as her bodyguard, he seizes the opportunity. The catch—she can’t know she’s being followed. As he grows closer to the intriguing woman and begins to have feelings for her, the burden of this secret grows heavier.

Although Leah and J.D. have suffered different types of trauma, their mutual understanding of each other’s pain bonds them. But their relationship, dependent on absolute trust, is rooted in lies which will detonate like an IED when exposed.

This is a beautiful story of two broken people; one of which is physically broken and the other mentally. When the two come together by a stroke of serendipity, they fill each other’s voids with the little pieces that they have left.
J.D.Wyatt, a returning war vet diagnosed with PTSD, first met our main character, Leah Schaeffer, at a club. She won’t remember seeing him there with his friends and hers because little does he know, she’s blind. I absolutely love how determined Leah is to be independent despite her new disability. She won’t let the car wreck destroy her life like it had done on her eyes.
Her parents aren’t happy about her decision to move out on her own, but they go along with it anyhow—but on their terms. Out of the goodness of their hearts but to Leah’s unknowing dismay, they have hired someone to watch over her covertly and have paid rent for the apartment room next to hers so that he can be nearby at all times.

You will be floored when you read who it is!

J.D. wants to show Leah how much he cares, but he struggles to be honest to her with who he is, and what he has done. But as they say, love conquers all and even through their toughest obstacle, they arise stronger than ever before.
Bonnie does a fantastic job with portraying someone who has lost their site and try to cope with the world around them and their relationships. It’s almost like she brought two guardian angels together and they gave each other the strength where the other one lacked. This is most definitely a story with a happy ending and I cannot wait to read the next in the series! So many great, vibrant characters who will pull you deeper into the story to see the main characters from a wider scope.

This is my first Bonnie Dee read and I am so excited to say that I am immediately picking up a few more reads from her other works!
