Someone pressed himself against Michaela’s back, his hands twining around her stomach. She felt his lips on her neck, his breath in her ear. He said something, but Michaela couldn’t hear. Clark cocked an eyebrow at her and moved away slightly to dance with a petite girl in a fox costume. Michaela twisted in the man’s arms so that they were face to face. He was tall and lanky and definitely human. The pupils of his eyes were huge, dilated far beyond normal, and Michaela smelled the musky hint of drugs seeping from his mouth. His hands roamed over her body, groping her ass. There was no room to get away; the bodies in the middle of the floor were pressed so close together. For a moment, panic flooded through Michaela’s veins. Sure she could knock this guy out with one hit, but she didn’t want to bring attention to herself. She looked around, realizing that everyone was experiencing the same sort of free will she was. She had no clue how the human girls dealt with this sort of invasion. In her distraction, she didn’t realize the man in front of her was about to kiss her until the second before his lips smashed into hers. Immediately, his tongue pressed into her mouth, forcing her lips to part. His tangy salvia pooled at the back of her throat and gagged her. His hand slid up her side to fist around her breast. In that appalling moment, Michaela realized two things. The first being that Gabriel, who was very new to the whole sex thing, was very, very good at the sex thing. And the second being…Gabriel. He stood in all his tall, dark glory behind the man sucking on Michaela’s tongue. Lifting his hand as if he was going to tap on the man’s shoulder and ask to cut in, Gabriel pressed a finger onto on the man’s shoulder, making him instantly sag to the floor. Gabriel pressed harder into the pressure point on the guy’s neck until he was nearly on the floor and completely disengaged from Michaela. It was quiet and efficient. Gabriel righted the man and set him aside before he made too much of a scene. In the mass of pulsing bodies and underneath the flashing storm of rainbow lights, it was unnoticeable. The man moved away, slightly stunned and confused, but without a backwards glance. Michaela shrugged sheepishly at Gabriel’s blank stare. Only because she was looking at his mouth was she able to read his lips as he spoke. “Don’t kiss anyone else.”

Krystle's Review - Reaver by Larissa Ione

Reaver
Larissa Ione

Blurb-

WARRIOR OF HEAVEN

Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels-and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell-he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before...to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself.

ANGEL OF HELL

Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she's been doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan's lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld's darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape-her newfound thirst for an angel's blood...

Oooooo-kay. All I want to do is go outside and scream, “ I LOVE THIS BOOK!!”

This book, is exactly how it should be. I have been waiting forever for Reaver and Harvester to get together! Soon as I found out that it was in the works I was ecstatic, but then I had to wait for it to be published...and that was like...torture! BUT, once I was able to get my hands on it, it was so worth the wait, haha!

Verrine,” he whispered. “I want you. Damn . . . I remember you.” – Reaver to Harvester.

I should have had a refresher course before I read this one, since it's been a year that I read Rogue Rider. Took me a minute to remember all of the secondary characters – Archangels/Fallen Angels – but then it all came together. I'm excited about getting to know Revenant a little bit more in the next book. Hopefully he and Reaver will be able to, kinda-sorta work things out.

I loved the flashbacks that Reaver and Harvester would have for back when they were Verrine and Yenrieth. But what Yenrieth said to Verrine, on what she thought was the best day of her life, ughhh, my heart broke for her! Although, I can understand why he would say it to her, seeing that she did keep a huge secret from him, but he didn't need to go as far as he did.

Even after all she endured from him, she still went thru with her oath and watched over his children as if they were her own. That. Is. Love.

As always, I was so glad to see returning characters. That's what makes this series so great, you're connected with ALL of the characters, whether they're evil, or good! Even though the book focuses on two main characters, it always breaks off so you can see what everyone else is up to as well. That's what makes this my favorite series. I'm quite certain, after reading this book, that Harvester/Verrine is my favorite female out of the whole Demonica/LoD Series. I love her attitude and spunk, she's so bad-ass! I was especially glad to see that she didn't change at all after a certain...life-changing-event she underwent.

I could go on and on and have a huge love-fest for the book, but I'd reveal too much, so I'm not going to do that. All I can say is READ IT!!

Anytime Sheoul is mentioned, and how it's described, I always picture it as a certain Zone from an Online Game I play. Shard of Fear – from Everquest 2 .. It just seems sort of perfect with the red atmosphere, demons, structures, and even a Harrowgate. (Pictures Below)

Maybe a Harrowgate? :)

Story starts out with Lisa Adams being offered the job of a lifetime at a very high-end PR firm. Elite PR & Marketing. Although when she signed the dotted line at the bottom of her contract, she had no idea she'd be signing her soul away to one of the most lethal and seductive demons of the underworld.

Then we fast-forward 5 years to where Lisa has worked her way up the corporate ladder. She's beautiful, has a great home, and the perfect job. Just not the perfect love life, and this is where the plot thickens. Her boss, Samuel, starts making advances on her, makes her feel sexy and desirable, but at the same time, she doesn't want to go down this route for fear of jeopardizing her career. Also poor Lisa starts to think that she's somehow gone bat-shit crazy with the hallucinations she begins to have. Hooded men with eyes that glow red, faucets that empty out pools of blood instead of clear water.

Just Samuel, her boss, biding his time – messing with Lisa as he waits to take what's rightfully his, but then walks Alex into Lisa's life.

And Alex is a man that I believe all women want to have walk into their life. I adored his character, he's sweet, the perfect gentleman, and sexy. He's the positive that will void all of the negative right out of Lisa's life, AKA – Lisa's Guardian Angel, who's been in love with her since birth, but once she signed her soul away, he chose to join the human realm to protect her. To do whatever it takes to ensure she won't be taken away from him. I just felt so sorry for him every time he and Lisa would kiss, since with him being an Angel, his lips would burn from her touch, but then I was super glad the moment that changed! Ha-ha!

I enjoyed this story very much, the author had a lot of nice details and explained everything perfectly. I look forward to reading the second book (and more) in the series!! If you like stories with Angels/ Fallen Angels, you'll love it!

I especially loved the size she depicted Lucifer to be, that would be a sight to see for sure!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

There are a lot of quotes / one-liners that I loved and chuckled from in this book! Here are a few.

Laid back is what Lisa enjoys, and laid back is exactly what Alex is...all wrapped up in a bow of sexy.
Yes, yes Alex is all wrapped up in a nice big shiny red bow of sexy! LOL

She wants to kiss him, she wants to embrace him, she wants her breathing to become difficult, she wants her heart to race out of control. – Looooooove that!

Looking at her, he sees the woman he's fallen in love with, the woman he fell from Heaven for, the woman he went to Hell to save. – Alex thinking about Lisa, swoooon!

A Booknatics Review: Keltor (Guardian Archives) by Jennifer Sage

Keltor: Guardian Archives
by Jennifer Sage

Blurb: Keltor is a Guardian of the light even though he exists nearly in Shadow, haunted by his past. His world, the world of the Guardians, is a dark reality that coexists in modern day with ours. Behind the warm veils of our lives a war rages against the Shadow Demons and the Guardians protect as much of humanity as they can, still believing in us as a race.

There is one person alive, a Keeper, who has within her the power to tilt the scales one way or another in this war. With the ability to damn the Light or the Dark and no knowledge of how to she is supposed to do either, Liz is nearly a helpless pawn. A pawn that is about to find herself completely powerless against a force greater than she has ever known.

A Guardian who lost his heart centuries ago. A female who has never really known her own. Laws that prevent them from ever finding solace in the other. Far different laws that prevent them from turning away.

Sky's Thoughts:

Firstly, thank you, Jennifer, for a copy of your book to review!

Where to start?
I was an instant fan of Ms. Sage from the moment I finished the first few chapters.

The first installment in the “Guardian Archives” gave me a sense of familiarity of worlds I have fallen in love with in the past. However, it certainly holds up its own brand of uniqueness. The world-building is so incredible that I fell instantly drawn in. In fact, I didn’t even realize how absorbed into the story I was until my dog started howling at the neighbors. I jolted out of the scene, finding that I was several chapters in, just absolutely startled. THAT my lovelies, means triumph to the author who can cause any sort of reaction like that out of me.

 I have also got to say, I am a huge fan of “Brotherhood” like novels; for the amount of time that my friends and I spend battling over book boyfriends, there's one for each of us to fall in love with and claim! And that certainly does not exclude this brotherhood of Guardians-- which by the way, everyone already knows I am quite obsessed with anything Angel/Guardian related. So this series is a huge bonus for me! We had a mixture of our deep fantasies of flawed and dangerous heroes, and relatable characters we can nod our head in agreement to many things they mention or find bothersome/enjoyable. The author says so in her biography, that she loves to add a bit of herself into each of her stories. I agree that it's vital in the making of a world that is still so far out there, but doesn't distract the reader from stopping a moment realizing, there's no traces of any soul in any characters!

Oh believe me, Ms. Sage aced that! Her characters are nothing short of vibrancy and life.

The few characters we were introduced to from the beginning were completely fascinating from the get-go. First, we are taken through a moment in Keltor's head and experience the pain he suffered from losing his wife and children. Then, he is paid a visit by his “Brother",  Lucio, and is given a task to “babysit” a unsuspecting Keeper, because she lives a mere mortal life and has no idea who she is-- it’s time for her to be trained and learn exactly who she is. Keltor is trusted for this task over any of the other Brothers, simply because of his pained past; they know he cannot afford, nor has the ability to fall in love and mess things up.

Later, we were introduced to more characters who all have their own roles in the main characters lives and the ones trying to screw everything up.

 There were quite a few plot twists and surprising incidents, and things just kept getting more and more intense. I had my hypothesis all planned out for the ending, but was delighted to see things were unpredictable. I am definitely going on to the next book as soon as it’s available!

Some of the extra perks I found to be brilliant in this story was the witty dialogue, there were quite a few comical situations and arguments.  Ms. Sage's ability to create such raw emotions through words, is truly enveloping.

I wanted to reach through the pages so many times to give each of the characters the biggest of hugs. Oh, not to mention… the SEXUAL TENSION?! I live for it, HAHA! It was at times so frustrating that I had to throw my head back and mumble a few expletives, but in all honesty, I have such a guilty pleasure of teases such as those scenes. Well done, Ms. Sage, well done. ;)

However batty the frustration drove us, it was totally worth it later on. Freakin'. HOT. Just explosive. You’ll see.

I will definitely be recommending this to any of my friends who appreciate superb PNR .

Krystle's Thoughts:

I found this PNR to be quite enjoyable, it had some J.R. Ward flare to it with a hint of KMM, and some Larissa Ione. If you like those gals, give this one a read!!! Some fun snarky humor from the heroine Liz and a whole lotta HOT with the mind-reading hero Kelt. Also, I wanted to thank the author for gifting me her book for a review!

You have your Immortal Guardians, who make sure that the darkness cannot take over the light of the world. Keltor is one of these guardians, and has lived a life of solitude for a very long period of time. That is, until he met the keeper, Elizabeth. Which she didn't even know that this paranormal side to her world existed. ~~ I loved Liz's crash course to her new reality, I know I would have been seriously hair brained for a while!

So Liz is a Keeper and prior to her, they've always been men. Keeper's are sought after by the Demons of the Shadows, wanted by the darkness with the ability to destroy Guardians if they cross over from the light. If that happens, they forfeit their soul and become Immortal as well. The whole time all of this is being explained to her, she's thinking that she will end up just like her mother at the insane asylum. Her mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 11 years old, but Liz had suffered a nightmarish childhood living with her long before that. That was heartbreaking, no idea how a mother can look at their child and think of them as the devil spawn, then beat them.

~~For a while, it was a mystery as to how Elizabeth can be well into her thirties and remain unknown as the Keeper to either the light or the dark. I liked the idea of her having a spell casting sorceress as her grandmother. ~~

I loved Ms. Sage's reasoning on why her Guardian's needed blood. Since they're immortal, their bodies no longer produce it, so they are 'forced' to drink it. Since they're not exactly vampires they don't just go stalking the streets for some unsuspecting victim because they 'want' to drink it. <---- I liked that :) .

Liz and Kelt's romance that they had together was all kinds of Hot'N'Steamy!! I started feeling sexually frustrated right along with the poor girl when, at the beginning of the book he would start something and abruptly end it. I don't want to reveal too much -BUT- the scene where they made their eternal connection. OMIGOD , it very very raw and 100% sweet.

Some characters that were favorites of mine were of course Kelt, because duh.

Liya- Badass warrior of the White! I was so happy that she got her happy ending, so to speak. Now we'll just have to see if Dante will give her, her other happy ending ! =P

Lucio- Being the son of the Pure one, he's like all of the other Guardian's mentor. His character was very fatherly and sweet. I liked his ability to see the footprints of the past so to speak, very cool idea.

I enjoyed young Kate and Logan's meeting/ time spent together as well. Everything seemed to tie in together nicely! Well worth the read. =)

If you stop this time, I'll kill you when I'm stronger.” - Elizabeth to Kelt

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
– There was a part of the book I wanted to point out. There's a scene where Liz is talking about good quality furniture and how you can't find them made like that anymore. All you get at the store is cheap pressed particle board. THAT IS SO TRUE, lol when I read that I laughed out loud.
Review by Krystle - Gabriel by Tina Pollick
In this story you meet and fall in love with the ever learning of how to use sarcasm – Archangel Gabriel. Who long ago, he and his brothers were in charge of keeping watch of the prisoners they were holding “The Kematians”, winged-demon like creatures who are Hell bent on destroying all of humankind. Then suddenly an earthquake destroys their prison and they escape. Now Archangel Gabriel and his brothers must separate and hunt them down all over again. Gabriel who was on duty during the time of their escape of course feels responsible and now carries this burden heavily on his shoulders feeling as tho he's failed his brothers and their “Almighty Father”.
Our Heroine Calla is an ER nurse, who one night walking home after her shift see's a man in an alley (Gabriel) needing assistance. Naturally her instincts to help kick in and when she rolls him over, she see's that he's unconscious and has been stabbed by some sort of green glowing knife, (the “Nex Addo – which later we find out is an Angel killing blade”). After she gets it out of him she has to stop the wound from bleeding. Here we find out Calla isn't just a normal human being. – Ooooh neat!!! – After she heals him with everything she has, she passes out from exhaustion. When Gabriel awakens (miraculously, since he knew what he was stabbed with) and finds this woman laying on top of him he knows he's only alive thanks to her. Seeing as how he can't leave his savior alone and unconscious in an alley, he takes her with him. When she wakes up, their conversation was pretty comical and eventually they part ways. This whole book had a lot of snarky humor from Calla! I Love that! Makes me think that this is how the author could talk to some of her friends ha!
Then when Calla gets an up close and personal greeting from one of these demons she knows she's in a world of trouble. Even tho Gabriel and Calla haven't known each other long at all, he knows deep in his heart that this woman is his soul mate, so when he felt her life force fading away he hurried to where she was. He see's that she's been bitten and that the poison from the Kematian flows within her. Giving her his gift of life he's able to keep her alive, but can't stop the transition that's already started to take place. – Later on with this scene I got some flashbacks of Regan from “The Exorcist”, I loved it.
I like how the story started out, getting the history between the Archangels and the Kematians. Then when we come into the present seeing how Gabriel adjusts with the change in time and people, he has a heck of a time learning how to tell when people are being sarcastic and using it back with them. Poor guy, haha!
There's a lot of characters to get to know in this story, and they all make it work really well.
They were all favorites but I really want to know more about Michael /wink, can't wait to read his story (if he's getting one) he's very alpha and mysterious.
I Actually felt like I read a much longer book than what it really was. Ms. Pollick did a great job with this plot and leading it up to the end. I loved the fight scenes, humor, and the twist of how some of the Kamatians were once human, was pretty neat.
Can't wait for more!
A line from the book that I really liked!
“Nice to meet you, Gabriel. If you're the reason my friend dies ' your ass is grass, and I'm the lawnmower” - Sam … I've never heard that saying and I died laughing after reading it, hahaha!
