~EXCERPT! ~

I ran the few yards, shouting “Gwen, Lily, heel.” They ignored me. By the time I reached him, the guy had sat up, a dazed expression on his face. He looked young, not much older than me, with dark eyes in a tanned face and what I figured was several days’ worth of rough stubble. Hot in a rugged, edgy way.
He tugged off the cap and ran a wet hand through short dark hair, and I caught a glimpse of dogtags on his chest. His gaze flicked up to me, and the breath caught in my throat. I’d expected to see anger, but instead, he looked lost.
Dropping to a crouch by his side, I tried to grab the girls before they did further damage. “I am so sorry.” Gwen barged into me, the force knocking me forward onto my knees and almost into his arms. Could I be any more embarrassed? “They don’t normally behave like this.” I grabbed at their collars, but they danced out of reach. Of course. “They must like you.” Jesus, how lame. I cringed when the words left my mouth, but it drew a hint of a smile from him.
“I guess.” He shoved at the wet sand and scrambled to his feet, then held out a hand to me. It would have been rude to refuse, so I let him help me up. His grip was strong and sure, albeit wet and sandy, and I tried not to stare at his sodden trousers. Lift your eyes, Holly. Muscles were clearly defined under his T-shirt, and the jacket did little to hide the breadth of his shoulders.
I focused on catching the dogs and managed to grab Lily on her next pass. Before she could wriggle free I clipped the chain to her collar. Now for Gwen, always the rebel. “I’m sorry,” I repeated into the silence. “I had no idea they’d do that. Are you okay?”
I got the distinct impression he wasn’t listening. He glanced first at his hand, then at his boots. “It’s gone,” he mumbled. “I’ve fucking dropped it.” He hunkered down and swished around in the shallow water. “Help me. I can’t lose it.”
Holding Lily securely, I bent down beside him. “What are we looking for?”
“A bracelet.”
I peered into the water. The light was fading fast, and our chances of finding anything were slim at best, but I caught a glimmer of something near my foot. I swooped to grab it before the next ripple shifted the sand, and my fingers closed around smooth metal. A silver link bracelet with blue stones and a flat silver plate with a name engraved. I squinted to read it. Marie?
“This one?” I held out the piece of jewelry and even in the semidarkness I saw his eyes light up and a smile break out across his face. Wow. I thought he was hot before, but he was actually gorgeous.
“Thank you.” He closed his fist around it and held it close to his chest. Marie must be his girlfriend. Or wife. Even a baby daughter. My imagination ran riot.
“It’s very pretty. Does that say Marie?” I should have slunk away at that point, but the desolation that flooded his eyes kept me locked in place.
“Marnie.” It was just a whisper. He swallowed hard. “Her name was Marnie.”
There’s always that moment where you have to make a choice. To walk away or to get involved in someone’s problems, and God knew, I’d been tangled in too many people’s issues already. But how could I walk away? He looked as though his entire world had crashed down around his feet. I’d beat myself up for it later, but right now, I had to stay. “That’s a beautiful name. Your girlfriend?” Was. He said her name was Marnie, my subconscious shrieked. Past tense.

What reviewers are saying about His Temporary Fix:

One sentence in and these characters drew me into their world, and had me hanging on every word. Their touching story captured my heart. – Misty

This was a very enjoyable quick read.  – Betty

I do love reading novella's for a quick fix, a quick pick-me-up, in between long novels. When they can pack emotion, connection with the characters, a great plot and storyline into less than 120 pages, well, that leaves me very satisfied and wanting to read more by the author. His Temporary Fix gave me all that and then some.   – Lee

Review by Sky: Roll Against Trust by Allyson Lindt!!!

Roll Against Trust (3d20 Book 1)
Roll Against Trust by Allyson Lindt
Book 1 in the, 3d20 series.
Novel
Blurb: Tasha’s not looking for love, but she doesn’t mind just looking… and maybe a little fantasizing. Her two best friends and weekend AD& D buddies, Seth and Ryan, are the perfect guest stars in her fantasies. When a late night gaming session with the three goes from silly to verbally scorching in an instant, Tasha wonders if her imagination is enough to keep her satisfied long term.

Five banging stars for this!
I am legitimately breathless after this read! Allyson Lindt’s writing is truly magical!
As a gamer and geek myself, I can easily put myself in the main character, Tasha’s, shoes—and even if you are not a gamer yourself and looking for a HOT ménage story, oh my hell, this is the one to begin with!
The story starts off with Tasha and her two guy friends, Ryan and Seth, having a late night Dungeon and Dragon chat; and as they are all deliriously tired, they slip into silly role-playing dialogue and it heats up real quick. That night left Tasha’s panties practically melting right off her hiney.
The following day though, things are about to get awkward between them at work and not because of the preceding night but rather that Tasha is put into a situation where Ryan’s career may be compromised. I refuse to make any spoilers whether or not their friendship can stand this test of trust, but I will say that the heat gets insanely tense between the two of them, and their other best friend.
I ate this story up real quick--it was way too good to put down!!
I cannot wait to see more in this series! I absolutely love Allyson’s world-building and how the plot and steam increases with every turned page until you’ve finally fallen back to fan yourself. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone I know and have a reread of this very soon. ;)

Sky's Review: Impostor's Kiss by Renea Mason

Impostor's Kiss, by Renea Mason (Book .5 of the "Symphony of Light" series)

Blurb: One night of sexual pleasure could teach a lesson in love.

Cyril is weary from weeks of traveling the Scottish moors, but his luck takes a turn when he rescues a battered and broken child. To express his gratitude, the boy’s father offers Cyril a night of carnal indulgence with his eldest daughter. Cyril graciously accepts, looking forward to a night of sexual release to ease the loneliness of his travels.

But what the supernatural sex god and deliverer of souls doesn’t expect is to be taught a lesson in love from the young and beautiful Celestine.

In a night of passion, two lost spirits find solace in an impostor’s kiss: one longing for a love that doesn’t yet exist, the other drowning in pain and guilt over love lost. Neither is what they seem…but what they learn will change them forever…

Sky's Thoughts: Cyril is one hell of an alpha male in this story; heroic, sexy, but oh so sentimental—it just melts my heart. Cyril is a man of many talents—some supernatural—and was created in the eyes of his goddess for sexual perfection; and if I say so myself, I would have to say she did a job well done.
While on a long journey one day, Cyril and his men stumbled upon a child who needed rescue. On returning the boy to his father to their popular tavern, Cyril was offered a night of passion with his daughter in exchange for his heroic deed. However, no matter how much his body craves the attention from a beautiful woman, there’s just one issue that may hinder his ability to take on this delicious offer.
For the last three-hundred years—the last time he had been reincarnated-- Cyril has feared losing the image of a woman he believes is the love of his existence. Her face haunts his dreams, she’s in everything he sees, every woman he meets and he is positive they will once again be reunited. Until then, he cannot love anyone else, he won’t allow it.
When Cyril is finally introduced to the daughter, Celestine, he makes a decision that had my heart falling right into his lap. This is where I will leave you, the reader, to see what happens next—it is so much more heart-filling when reading. Will his weakness deepen their heartaches, or will their hearts come together to give each other strength in a time of mourning?

Review by Sky: Return to Emerald City, by Sofia Grey and Allyson Lindt!!

Return to Emerald City: A Collection of Novellas Inspired by The Wizard of Oz
Return to Emerald City: A Collection of Novellas Inspired by The Wizard of Oz, by Sofia Grey and Allyson Lindt
Blurb:Dorothy’s Red Shoes
There’s no place like home… Dorothy is already feeling homesick for Emerald City, and wonders if taking a job halfway around the world was a mistake. When her love life crumbles–again–will she run for home?
His Replay Girl
If he only had the nerve… Ten years ago, Quinn made the best choice of his life, and the biggest mistake. It’s true, his band, Lionheart, is one of the biggest in the world, but how much does it mean if he can’t tell the woman he loves how he feels?
His Reboot Girl
If he only had a brain… Scott woke up with his head spinning and not much else going on up there. Now he’s a suspect in a terrorist plot, and
on the run. One woman insists she's the key to his past and his freedom. Too bad he doesn't remember her.

His Rewind Girl
If he only had a heart… Cam is as much machine as man. There are days he loathes the CyGes implants that saved his life but couldn't do the same for his family. They replaced his limbs, but now he needs someone to mend his heart.

This collection of four novellas are written together by Sofia Grey and Allyson Lindt--and damn, are these ladies brilliant! Where one author leaves off, the other picks up in the next book with a new set of characters who are in some way related by friendship with the previous characters. The collection all together was, hot, enticing, and beautifully innovative!
Each story is based or loosely tied around a company called CyGes in Emerald City that builds, designs, and implants bionic parts into humans which makes for a lot of fantastically futuristic trouble and romance.
I especially had a lot of fun trying to figure out the theme of each story to trace back to the Tin man, Scarecrow and the likes in the world of Oz. For example, in the first story, Dorothy’s Red Shoes by Sofia Grey, Dorothy realized home is where the heart is. Having moved to New Zealand from Emerald City in the States, she found a great job and began lusting over her suave and sexy boss; but soon she realizes, the person who would treat her with the respect and admiration she deserves, was right under her nose all along. A brief trip back to Emerald City put them at a distance, and it was then she knew her heart belonged with him and nowhere else.
And in the last story, His Rewind Girl by Allyson Lindt, Camden is left with bionic parts to fix his broken body after a tragedy that also took away everyone he had ever loved. The only part CyGes left him without was a heart to give the girl who may just be the one to bring him back to life again.
There are definitely naughty bits in this book, you will not be disappointed—in fact, each story gets hotter and hotter until it finally just explodes! I had so much fun reading this, thank you Sofia and Allyson for the chance to be one of the firsts to fall in love with this series!

My Rating: Five Stars!

Sofia Grey's, "Lila's Wolf" Book Blitz!!! The One With Ghardians and the Timelines

Lila’s Wolf Blog Tour!

 Ghardians and the timelines

A note from the author: I’ve created a simple premise in my new time travel series: if someone tries to use the time-jumping technology to run away to an earlier time, they are hunted down and brought back to face justice. In this case, ten-years in prison.

The penalties are harsh, but I guess they have to be. The biggest danger is that someone might contaminate the timelines, create a paradox and put the entire future at risk.

This led me to the creation of an elite order of soldiers – the ghardians – who are trained to capture runaways. In Lila’s Wolf (Out of Time #1), Lila travels back to Dark Age Britain with a ghardian, to track down Jared. The last thing she expects, is to find him there as a slave.

Do you think the sentence is too harsh? Or not severe enough? Leave me a comment and you’ll go into a draw for the blog tour giveaway.
Lila’s Wolf (Out of Time #1) is available 4 September 2014, from Hartwood Publishing
See links below!
Genre: Dark time-travel romantic suspense

The only way to save him, might be to leave him behind

(I so want this book cover as a poster! Rwar! -Sky)

Blurb:When Lila Cammell is abandoned by her time-jump partner, leaving her alone in Britain in the Dark Ages, revenge is the only thing on her mind. She’d trusted Jared Grohl with her life and her heart, and bringing him to justice will be sweet.

Finding him captured and enslaved by the Saxons changes all her assumptions. Now it’s a fight for survival, but the only way to save him, might be to leave him behind.

“I need to ask you something.” Marc’s tone was quiet, and my stomach churned. I lifted my head and met his gaze, seeing his serious expression, a trace of anxiety in his dark eyes. The corners of his mouth quirked up a fraction, but he still looked worried. “I wondered about your feelings for Jared.”

“My feelings?” Gods, what could I say? My heart raced, and I tried to find the right words. Nothing came out, and the silence grew, hopeless, but explaining so much without the need for words.

“I thought so.” Marc’s voice was soft “And I guess it will be hard for you to see him in the penal colony?”

I found my voice. “Would he still be sentenced? He’s a slave here, for God’s sake.”

“He would still have to serve time. It may be reduced by a couple of years, but you know they like to make examples of runaways. It’s a deterrent, and a very effective one.”

Tears pressed at the back of my eyes. I couldn’t leave Jared here, but what kind of future awaited him at home?

Sky: Thank you for visiting us here at the Booknatics today! For those not familiar with you yet, would you like to tell them a little about yourself?

Sofia: My name is Sofia Grey. I write contemp and PNR, in several different series, and my first book (a short story) was published in January last year. I’m addicted to wine, chocolate and coffee, and firmly believe you can never have too many books. This is probably why my Kindle crawls along at the speed of an arthritic snail.
Sky: Oh, we're most definitely going to get along juuuust fine here. *giggles*

Sky: How did the idea for this book come about?
Sofia: I love the concept of time travel, and had bounced ideas around in my head for years, before I finally started work on Lila’s Wolf. It was intended to be a short & fluffy story, with a series that focused on people travelling through time sampling different lovers. Once my characters spoke to me though, it rapidly became clear this was a much darker story, and I’m glad I listened to them.
Sky: I am sure the other concept would have been just as brilliant, but I am thankful to have met Jared!

Sky: When did you realize you wanted to be a writer? Were there any specific inspirations, such as an author and or book?

Sofia: I started reading early, amassing a book collection with my pocket money, and in my head I’ve always been creating stories and characters. There was no blinding flash of realization though, it’s just something I knew I would do.

Sky: What was the hardest thing you dealt with during the writing process of your first story?
Sofia: You mean apart from being convinced it was a best-seller and would bring me fame and fortune, and then being disappointed when everyone rejected it? There was a practical issue, in that I lost my soft copy of the manuscript, and had to retype it from scratch.
Sky: Oh no!
Sofia: This was probably ten years after I’d first written it. However, like a good cheese, my writing had matured, and I ended up keeping maybe half of it, and rewriting the rest.
The exciting news is that after multiple rewrites, and enough rejections to fill a large folder, this first book is finally coming out in early 2015. It’s called Pole Position, and is a dark contemp romance.
Sky: I admire your dedication! I also feel as though many aspiring writers can find inspiration in your hard work and perseverance. Sounds like us fans have another brilliant book to look forward to!

Sky: Have you learned anything new about yourself during the writing process of your books?
Sofia: I think like most authors, writing fills a void for me, one that I didn’t even know was there. It’s hard to explain, but writing acts like a valve for my emotions. If I’m angry, or scared, or upset, I can channel it into my story.
Sky: That explains one of my favorite parts about the power of your writing; there's a real sense of raw emotion in your characters that had me constantly feeling everything they felt.

Sky: Do you have a preferred time or place where you feel more comfortable writing?
Sofia: Since I work full time, I have limited hours to actually write, and so I try to use my commuting time – two hours on the train every day. With my earbuds in, a flask of coffee beside me, and laptop on my knees, I use that time for writing. Luckily I sit with a bunch of regulars, who are used to my antisocial ways. It’s kinda hard writing sex scenes on the train though, so I save those for late at night when everyone is asleep, and I don’t have any interruptions.
Sky: *laughing* I can imagine you'd turn those regulars into admirers if they ever saw the naughty that happens between the pages of your novels!

Sky: When the ultimate enemy, Writer’s Block, strikes, is there anything special you do to cure it?
Sofia: Gah! Sometimes I take it as a signal from my subconscious that I need to take a break, and I’ll put the manuscript down for a couple of days, and just read and watch movies instead. After that, if I’m still stuck, the two things that unlock it for me are walking on the beach, and driving my car.

There’s something about driving that makes all the ideas come pouring out – and leaving me desperate to make sure I remember it all! I swear I create the best dialogue when I’m driving. Shame I forget half the details by the time I get to write it down.
Sky: If you ever need a silent passenger to assist you in jotting everything down, I'll work for free--I wouldn't mind a drive around gorgeous NZ! LOL!

Sky: When you’re not busy concocting brilliant fantasy novels, what is it you love to do to pass time?
Sofia: Listen to rock music, eat chocolate, and drink coffee (day) or wine (night). I also read obsessively, collect shoes, and bake chocolate brownie to share with my friends.
Sky: *drools* Now I want to head over there even more! I'll be sure to bring brand-spanking new shoes as a gift in return *laughs*

Sky: Are there any inspirations that come to mind when you create your characters?
Sofia: I like to have a visual inspiration before I start work writing them. I’ve been known to spend hours on Pinterest looking for the exact image that makes me go, Yeah, that’s the one.
Sky: I am always finding an excuse to go on Pinterest myself! Coincidentally, I was browsing Pinterest for a fitting image of Jared to use on the banners for today's blitz ;D

Sky: If you were not a writer, what would your dream job be?
Sofia: My first ever job was working in a library, and I loved it. Surrounded by books all day, it was damn near perfect. Aside from that, if I could somehow wangle a job quality checking male models for photo shoots, I would consider that. It’d be a tough job, but you know, someone has to do  it... * grin *
Sky: Oh lord, if you ever land a job like that, I'd hope you put a good word in for me--I'll bring the baby oil.

Sky: The million-dollar question: If you were to be offered a deal for “Lila’s Wolf” to become a movie, would you accept? If so, who would your dream cast be?
Sofia: Does anyone ever say NO to this?
This is the kind of question I could obsess over for hours – days – and never be satisfied. Pass!
Sky: *laughs*
 Thank goodness for Pinterest!

Sky: In regards to another series you have published with wolf shifters, would you say wolves are your favorite animal?
Sofia: Actually, cats are my favourite animals, as pets,  but I adore wolves for shifters. Raw power, strength and all those yummy alpha-male qualities.

Sky: If you could have your very own pet wolf, what would his or her name be?
Sofia: Hmmm... Jensen (Ackles)  - I’d like to have my own, tame, Jensen Ackles * grin *
Sky: Another Ackles fan in the house! *high five*

He approves! ^

Sky: If you could travel to any time and place in the world, where would it be, and why?
Sofia: Oh, so many choices... Maybe Stonehenge when it was being constructed and see what it looked like when it was new? Or back in time to watch Queen at their height, with the late, great Freddie Mercury singing.
Sky: Lovely choices! Makes me wonder what's next in store for Jared and Lila once they're back in operation :D

Sky: The ever-favorite question here at the Booknatics: Who is your book boyfriend?
Sofia: This is variable, depending on mood, but my top 3 would be:
-      Dmitri Belikov (from the Vampire Academy series)
-      Judd Lauren (from the Psy/Changeling series)
-      Alexander Belov / Barrington from The Bronze Horseman
I’d never get tired of these * happy smile *
Sky: You've got fantastic taste, my dear! Dmitri is definitely on the top of my list as well
*giggles*

Sky: And lastly, do you have any writing advice for other aspiring authors?
Sofia: It’s a cliché, but write, write, and write some more. When you finish a novel, start work on the next. And the next after that.
What helped me more than anything though, was finding myself a critique partner – someone to objectively critique my work as I wrote it, and tell me the truth about my writing. Friends and family have a tendency to tell you it’s wonderful, and it can take an outsider to be brutally honest.
Thank you for the interview, it was great fun – and thank you for featuring me on your blog today
 Mwah! Mwah!
Sky: I've probably said it a thousand times already, but that's just how thankful I am to be apart of your big day! You are inspiring and a true talent. I can't wait to see what's in store for all of us who adore you and your worlds very much.Thank you!!! mwah!
