Krystle's Review for Taking Connor by B N Toler ~~ 5 Stars!!~~

There’s a stereotype for how a convicted felon appears to the public.

Connor Stevens fit that bill.

His reputation preceded him. With a hard body and vivid tattoos dispersed across his flesh, he certainly drew the judgmental eyes of conservative tight-asses. Even I had those same thoughts…regardless of how highly Blake spoke of him.

But those opinions were about to be challenged.

I’d promised to pick Connor up from prison—where he’d served eight years for manslaughter. When Blake passed away, I had every intention of honoring our agreement. Taking Connor home would be my ultimate show of gratitude. Blake never disclosed why Connor killed a man, and I never had the guts to ask. Ever daunted, and against my better judgment, I soon grew to feel close to Connor, in spite of how perverse it was. Still, I vowed to brush off those feelings at all costs.

At least I thought I would. Until all hell broke loose…

Diving head-first, I relished in the time spent in Connor’s damnation. But when he was thrust into hell, it didn’t matter how wrong it was to love him. It was immaterial what he’d done…or why. I came out swinging and clawing, and submerged into the inferno with him, refusing to leave until we both walked out hand in hand. My instinct was to fight.

Connor wouldn’t burn alone.

I would save him.

Or turn to ash right beside him.

5 Book Rating!
Another great book by B N Toler!

This book has it all. Second chances, romance, mystery, surprises, comedy. You name it, this author can write it. Her books make you feel...all the feels. Also, having known her and talked with her quite a bit, her personality really shines through with her characters. I love that about her writing.

So in this book, you have your lead heroine Demi on her way to pick up the mysterious Connor Stevens, her late husbands older cousin, who's just happened to be in prison for the last 8 years...because he killed a man. Since her husband never divulged any of Connor's details before his passing, Demi doesn't know the entire story as to why Connor's been locked away. All she knows is that she is going to fulfill her husbands wishes, and get Connor back on his feet.

...which means he's also going to be staying in the apartment above the garage...at her house...did I mention Connor Stevens is one hot S.O.B. that has tats, muscles, and rides a Harley. He's basically the starter kit for who your parents would have an absolute FIT over, if they found out you were dating. It's a good thing Demi and Connor don't have any romantic feelings what-so-ever for one another then, huh ? Okay, maybe they do??? Or, maybe a lot??!!!? Ha, I mean come on, this is a romance :)

I think the story was great, I was blindsided by a few things, especially towards the end. There was a time there where I wanted to smash my Kindle into a bazillion pieces but after I read a bit more and everything fell into place, I was happy again. Connor and Demi's chemistry was fantastic. I highlighted so many scenes between the two of them on my kindle because their banter cracked me up. I sooooo want a Connor of my own. I also wanted to punch Demi's mother in the throat, that's for sure, and I fell in love with Demi's sister Lexi. I'd love to read her story sometime soon (wink, wink) I think she and Dusty have a whole lot of something hot going on. I'd even be happy if Roxy had her own story!!

5 GIANT stars from me!

B N Toler lives in Virginia. When she's not reading and writing, she's thinking about reading and writing. Before she became a self-proclaimed writer, she worked as a real estate agent and as an orthodontic technician. **She will notice your teeth before your eyes or hair or anything.**
She enjoys shopping (way too much) and is on a first name basis with several employees at the local Target in her town.
She loves music,(bluegrass, country, 80's, actually she loves most music ~her favorite song is American Pie by Don McLean and she worships anything that is Elvis and Johnny Cash and Eric Church) dancing, (even though she sucks at it)reading, writing, eating (too much) sleeping late, (which she rarely gets to do) and laughing. If you can make her laugh, she will love you forever.
Random and insignificant facts:
She is addicted to Coca Cola
She hates onions
She loves thunderstorms
She wants to have Karen Marie Moning's babies
She curses....a lot...like way too much
She's immensely afraid of snakes
She fangirls over M.Pierce
She HATES reality television
She loves books and movies that make her cry
She cries over anything remotely sad
She LOVES Jack Daniels and Ginger Ale. (too much)
She hopes she hasn't bored you to death.

Ray wraps his arms around me and holds me tight as if something terrible has happened and he doesn't want to let me go.

Full Contact. This is how Ray speaks when his emotions overwhelm him. I melt into his stillness. His body is hot and hard, his breath warm on my neck. He smells of leather and sweat, sex and sin. Nothing can tear me away.

When you can't resist the one person who could destroy you...

Sia O'Donnell can't help but push the limits. She secretly attends every underground MMA fight featuring The Predator, the undisputed champion. When he stalks his prey in the ring, Sia is mesmerized. He is dominant and dangerous and every instinct tells her to run.

Every beautiful thing Ray "The Predator" touches he knows he'll eventually destroy. Soft, sweet and innocent, Sia is the light to Ray's darkness-and completely irresistible. From the moment he lays eyes on her, he knows he's going to have to put his dark past behind him to win her body and soul.

Excerpt

“Clothes off and prepare to be searched.” His voice is warm, lush, and filled with sensual promise. But I am oh so aware that, dominant as he is, he’s mindful of my issue with being undressed. A warm, fluttery feeling spreads from my belly, beating back the memories.
“Help me.”
And he does. His hands over my hands, we slide my shirt and bra up and over my head, his fingers tangling with mine, caressing my body as I am bared for his pleasure. When we get to my shoulders, I raise my arms and Ray takes over. Slow and sensual, his fingers glide over my skin, filling me with the sensation of his touch. When he reaches my hands, he yanks the clothing over my head and tosses it to the floor with a victory growl.
“Back in position.” He smooths his hands down my arms and places my palms against the cool metal surface of the shop wall. And then he is everywhere, his hands roaming over my body, setting fire to my skin. When he has thoroughly touched and kissed every inch of my exposed skin, he tugs out my ponytail holder. My hair fans out across my back in a silken wave.
“Fuck. I love your hair.” He strokes his fingers through the strands. “Don’t put it up when you’re with me.”
“Guess that means I won’t be with you when I’m exercising or doing ink.” With a grin, I look back over my shoulder, but my smile fades at the intensity of his stare.
“You know what I do to girls who give me attitude?” He kicks my legs apart, then smooths his hand over my ass.
Desire, dark and delicious, curls through my body. “What do you do?”
His hand tightens, fingers digging into my flesh. “I spank them.”
I make a soft sound, deep in my throat. Morbid fascination, dan- gerous desire—everything I’ve imagined but never thought could be real, he offers with a brush of his fingertips. “I’ve never been spanked,” I whisper. “But I think I might like it.”
His deep, satisfied rumble pulses between my legs. “You’re gonna kill me, sayin’ things like that.” He circles my waist with his hands, his fingers lingering on the waistband of my jeans, skimming along the inside, his touch an erotic tickle that makes me writhe against him.
“Don’t move.”
“Then don’t do things that make me want to push you to the ground and tear off your clothes.”
He chuckles, amused. “We’ll get to that later. Right now, you’re taking off your jeans and I’m gonna help you, like last time.”
With a vicious tug, he reaches around and opens the zipper, then positions my hands on my hips and covers them with his palms, guiding me as I push down my jeans. Although he is working around my trigger, he is still totally in control, and I tremble, overwhelmed with the knowledge that for the first time, I can have what I want without the past getting in the way.
He crouches beside me, offering his shoulder as I toe off my shoes and kick my jeans away. Then he licks his lips and barks, “Back to the wall.”
My mouth waters at his tone—low, commanding, authoritative. Intensely erotic. He is so unlike any man I have ever been with. I turn without thinking, curiosity overriding reticence and my fear of losing control.
Crouched in front of me, Ray glides his hands up my legs, his fingers drawing lazy circles over the sensitive skin of my inner thighs, turning my thoughts to the throbbing between my legs. Unable to resist, I run my hands through the soft fuzz on his head.
He looks up, his eyes hooded with desire, then stands, dwarfing me with his massive body. With one hand pressed against the wall beside me, he glides a finger along the edge of my silky red panties, his lips curling into a satisfied smile when I whimper.
“You like red panties?”
“I like what’s hidden by red panties.” His naughty finger glides over my mound, brushing over the thin slip of fabric covering my aching clit. My breath catches in my throat, and I arch my back and moan.
“You want more?” His voice rumbles in my ear as he slides his hand down to cup my sex.
“Yes.”
He wraps one arm around my waist, pulling my body against him. Then he kicks my legs apart.
“Open for me.”

About the Author:
Vi Keeland

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work.  She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
