Review by Krystle : Quintal's Return by Nadine Christian

I was offered this book in exchange for an honest review by Nadine, and was so glad that she asked me!

This story is about 2 sisters (Kate/Heroine and Jen) who run/manage hotels, and are now assigned to run the brand new hotel 'The Bounty's Retreat' on the beautiful Isle of Pitcairn. Coincidentally their parents lived on the island but left before they were born. It starts off with them traveling to Pitcairn on boat, but when they arrive near the island they actually transfer to another boat that takes them to shore. Which has Kate nervous as hell because she thinks she will fall into the sea. At first I thought Kate's love interest was going to be Captain Drew, from the first boat that they started out on. But soon realized it was going to be the Captain of the Longboat that they've transferred to, named Bryce.

And what a love interest he turned out to be *fans self*

Bryce is a local, knows his island, his boat, everything by the back of his hand and now this beautiful woman falls into his life, you can tell that she's thrown him of his game a little bit since a while ago he'd sworn to himself he would be a permanent bachelor. He's helped build the hotel, as well as the other islanders. He's kind of like the Do-It-All kind of guy of the island. What woman wouldn't want a man like that? Knowledgeable, good with his hands, good looking??? Ms. Christian wrote her characters very smart for this book. She made them all extremely loveable to the reader, and even had you feeling sorry for the villain of the book Celia.

This book has a great cast of characters with a well thought out story line, and I enjoyed it very, very much! I have definitely recommended this book to friends and will continue to do so with the rest of her work from now on. Can't wait to see what else she writes up for us in the future!

Also-

The island way of living is very charming in itself, and that reflects from her writing, seeing how she lives on one. I would love to someday visit and meet great people who go out of their way to help others with anything they needed. There needs to be more people like this in the world.

Review by Krystle : Healer by B.N. Toler

I really loooooooooved this book!!!!

I received this copy from the author for an honest review, and found myself not wanting to put it down! The whole story just blew me away.

This story is told by Aldo from 2 different times in her life. The present (or what she thinks is the present), where she's 24, and then from her memories at being 17. She, her brothers Whit and Hudson are triplets raised by their aunt Lucy, and they all have a special kind of ability to them... They're Healers. Healers can hear hear the energy that humans have thru their vibrations and pitches and when someone is in need of healing they pull energy from other sources (people) and push that energy into the person in need. They call themselves 'Healer Robin Hoods'. Though they cannot interfere with a person who is on the verge of death.

Healers that practice healing on others don't generally stay in one area too long, for fear of being caught by Vampires or Blood Healers. A Healer's blood, is much more divine than any other persons blood. Blood Healers are Healers that have been turned by a vampire and are able to walk in the sunlight.

When Aldo was 17, there was an accident at a store she was at where a little girl got hit by a truck. She can sense that her vibrations and pitches are consistent so she knows that she can be saved. Rushing around trying to decide who has the best energy to pull from, she decides on the driver who hit the child.... But he starts pulling HER energy.. So now she's pretty freaked out because not only did she just meet another healer, but SHE is the energy source!! So she cuts off his connection with her. Now with him shocked and amazed she's a healer, Aldo starts to push her own energy into the child. Which is a big no no, since she's just draining herself.

After she comes too from blacking out, the other healer stuck around to introduce himself as Thomas and they talked for a little bit. But later on in her dreams is where she really gets to know him, since she also has the ability absorb any information by a single touch. . . In her dreams, Thomas is there, they talk some more / she asks him questions.. All the while thinking it's her own subconscious she's speaking with, when in actuality he is IN THE DREAM with her; he's a dream walker.. In the dream he invites her to meet him at a restaurant, and that's when he tells her that he's 25 and finds out that she's only 17. That's pretty much just crushed Aldo's world, especially when he calls her a kid.

He decides she's more like the sister he's never had and befriends her and her family. They all become very close with Thomas; Aldo even falls in love with him. Then one day, when her aunt has scheduled a healing at their house, she sends Aldo and her brothers away for the afternoon.... Their lives will never be the same....

I could really go on and on and on and ON about this story, but I don't want to give too much away!!!! Ahhhhh! I just really love how it was all done, and how it came together. Ms. Toler did an amazing job! It kind of had me thinking of the movie “Inception” just from all of the dream sequences.

A few things I will say is that I am in love with Rhett's character, and hope he kicks Thomas's little ass when they find him LOL. . . *Dramatic Music* !! When Rhett and Aldo arrived at the farmhouse, he looked it over and said, “Interesting”.. I kind of had an idea of what was happening, loved it, great idea!

Also, I think it'd be pretty neat if Aldo became a Blood Healer.. With Rhett.....*swoon*!!!

Can't wait for the next book!

I never thought I would be able to feel for someone again, because I shut myself off to it. She saved you and because she did..., I found you.” - Rhett Mason

Review by Krystle : Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

I'm going to start off by saying that I really, really enjoyed this book. The story and characters really took off and sucked me in. It wasn't anything I was expecting it to be, it was better!

Abby Abernathy is starting fresh with her best friend America at Eastern University. Early on in the book you keep getting some clues that Abby's past wasn't so great, and it really gets you guessing as to what it could be. Then you find out what it is, and it pretty much threw me for a loop, I wouldn't have thought it would have had anything to do with having a dead beat poker playing father in Las Vegas, and that she herself is a bit of a card shark thanks to her good for nothing dad. Now with of that all in her past, and wanting to start fresh, she gets dragged to a secret type of “Fight Club” on campus and the person fighting is not only her best friends boyfriends cousin Travis, but everything Abby needs to avoid altogether if she's serious about starting fresh.

Travis 'Mad dog' Maddox..... I fell in love with this broken young man. He's the perfect example of a boy you would want to keep your daughters away from, or your parents told you to stay away from, but couldn't. He's the school slut, shaved head, covered in tats, cigarette smoking, drinking and swearing bad boy that all of us (yes you) would love to be with at some point in our lives. Or have already.....? Raised in a house full of testosterone since his mother passed when he was so young he became a hell of a fighter fighting off his older brothers and now uses these skills in what they call the “Inner Circle” fights that only a handful of college kids know about. He makes a lot of money from the bets placed so this prevents him from having to have an actual job... And this is where he meets Abby, and you can tell he instantly falls in love with her. I love the nickname he gives her.. “Pigeon”..

He pretty much finds Abby as something he wants like a shiny beautiful trophy, but he never thinks he's good enough to have her. His reputation of sleeping with all of the women on campus (by sleeping I mean “bagging” them on the couch since they're not good enough for his bed and then sending them away in the morning telling them he won't even think of calling them) definitely isn't helping him win Abby over either. She see's him for the pompous arrogant ass he is and wants absolutely nothing to do with him at first. Until, she loses a bet and has to stay with him for a month. . . Sleeping with him, in his bed, BUT without any funny business.

I know we're fucked up, all right? I'm impulsive and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don't deserve you . . . but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I've loved anyone or anything, ever. When you're around, I don't need booze or money or the fighting or the one-night stands. . . all I need is you. You're all I think about. You're all I dream about. You're all I want.” - Travis Maddox

During the duration of the bet a man named Parker who's pre-med, clean cut, rich, everything Abby should be going for if she wants to get away from her past lets her know he's interested in her.. They try to go out on a few dates, but Travis makes it damn near impossible playing the needy best friend, when actually he doesn't want his pigeon having eyes for anyone but himself. So Abby and Parker decide to try and give it a shot after the bet is over and she's back to staying at her dorm room. Well.... too many sweet things happen for Abby to really consider giving Parker a chance, although they did fool around a few times and I even thought what in the world is she doing? Travis is doing a completely 180 for you and you're fooling around with this guy? A Mr. Rogers wannabe??? Get with the program girl LOL!!!..

There's so much more I want to gush about but I just think that I will just tell you to go get this book and read it for yourselves. You won't be disappointed, it will send you on an emotional roller coaster, but it'll be worth it!!

**I will say this tho, the one thing that did really bother me was when Travis would become a complete control freak of Abby. Getting pissed off at her when a guy buys her a beer at a bar, wanting her to change a dress because it was cut too low in the back, punching a guy who tries to dance with her at the club, when they'd have a fight and Abby would leave and he'd lose his mind with crazy antics trying to win her back, etc... That was a bit much, and I think the author wanted that to tie in with the fact that he lost his mother at a young age and never really had “that connection” with another female until now.. I do get that, but still... It would have freaked me out too being with a man that had a temper like that. **

Review by Krystle : "Entwined with You" by Sylvia Day

Well, since I am working on my endless to-read pile of books, I didn't have a hard time waiting for this book to come out.... Although now I can't wait for the next book “Captivated by You”! I'm in love with Gideon, what can I say? He's melted my heart..

The chemistry he and Eva have with each other is something I think we all either have/wish we had with the loves of our lives. If not, then that's how it should be.

-They're truthful with each other thru out the book, it didn't have a lot of “leave you in the dark/ cliffhanger moments” and if it did it didn't take long for Ms. Day explain what was going on. Unlike some other books that go on and on with the drama while you pound your fist in the couch cushion waiting for some sort of resolve...

- They talk about everything with each other, something every couple needs to survive.

- The sex life that they have is O.M.G. . . I'm completely jealous over it. Pretty sure this book alone had double the sex than the previous books had lol!

I know it's not fair to ask you to be with me” – his head tilted back – “when we can't even sleep in the same bed, but I'll love you better than anyone else could. I'll take care of you and make you happy, I know I can.” Gideon Cross

I melted.

There are a lot of certain things that I want to share in this review but I don't want to spoil anything too major for anyone. I do hope that people give it a chance to read and fall in love with it as I have. I know a lot of people are bummed out that this series started out as a trilogy and is now going to be 5 books total.. I swear I could be a part of one of those AA groups for people who fall in love with fictional characters and never want their stories to end. . . .

I really like Eva's character as a whole. She's strong, built to succeed in anything she sets her mind to, carefree to a certain degree, and smart. I love her wit that she has about her, I kind of get the feeling that after reading how she handles some heated situations with people she couldn't give a rats ass about, that I could be like that in a similar setting if need be. We've all been in one of those situations where someone will say something to you, it escalates into something nasty for a minute or two, and after it's over you come up with the perfect thing to say right back at them. Yeah well I need to learn how to be more like this chick when that happens again, because she has some spunk.

Also a lot of other women who have a rich and powerful man in their lives would love nothing more than to just sit around eating bonbons or chewing gum all day without a care in the world. Not Eva, this girl is like the energizer bunny. Juggling everything in her life, while maintaining a full- time job, her Krav-Maga classes, etc.. Hopefully she'll stay this way in the coming books.

I do feel bad for Eva's dad, the man loves an unobtainable woman... The only thing she will ever love will be money followed closely herself. Sad way to live. :( She and Eva have a difficult time with each other in this book. Trust is a H-U-G-E thing with Eva, so glad that she and Gideon didn't that issue. That can get really old with the, “What did I do wrong this time, What did I do wrong this time again, etc..” LOL!

Oh poor poor Cary, still torn between choosing over Tatiana and Trey. I seriously hope that he chooses Trey over that snarky B***, altho the author has made some interesting changes in all of their lives thru the pages of Entwined...

I thought it was great that this booked picked up right where “Reflected in You” left off. And that it ended without a, “Why, What, or Huh?” cliffhanger kind of moment, makes it easy to wait on book 4 knowing that it had a happy ending.

The plot thickens...

Alsooooo, seems we have some mystery with some of the characters. Or maybe it's just me thinking too much into them...? Megumi mysteriously calls in sick for 3 days at the end of the book and she's impossible for Eva to get a hold of so she can see if she's alright. That just seems fishy to me. Also, Will, just seems to sort of show up wanting to go to lunch with Eva a lot. Wonder if he's truly being friendly and just wanting someone to sit thru lunch with him, or if he's working on another agenda?? Do they have something to do with a certain article of jewelry that ended up somewhere it wasn't supposed to be? Or could it be Cross's brother? Maybe even the nosy reporter Deanna?? I could just be watching/reading too many mystery movies/shows/books and they have me thinking too much into it all, LOL!
