Author Nadine Christian took me back to the beautiful island of Pitcairn with Jen and Felix's story. We learn a little about Jen from book one in the series “Quintal's Return”, and I'm so glad that Jen got her own book. This book has a lot of laugh-out-loud moments, I love Jen's character and how she thinks. She's definitely someone I would be friends with if she were a real person. The romance in this book is steamy hot and sensual, and I really adore this series with all of it's other Island characters that we've met from other books. With the way the author describes everything, from the flowers, to the birds, to the sounds of the ocean booming against the shore, it's as if you're on the island with them. And if you were, the residents would all welcome you as if you belong there.

“Quintal's Quandary” proves that some people are completely blind to see the love that is obviously right in front of their faces. Poor Jen is victim of that here, both she and the main hero, Felix work for the hotel; Jen in management, and Felix the head Chef. They're the best of friends, and he also lives with her as a room-mate at her home. She had a “thing” for him when he first came on the island, but shortly after his arrival, he disclosed to her that he wasn't interested in the island girls. What she failed to understand, was that with him basically being “fresh meat” to an island full of vulchers, he didn't want to take advantage of that and just date anyone. Especially since he was new and had a kitchen in a very prestigious new hotel to run.

Sooooo, poor girl immediately thought that he wasn't into girls...but was batting for the other team. Lol, I cracked up because that would totally have been something I would have assumed.

They live together for almost a year as flat-mates, Jen thinking that Felix is just her best friend, meanwhile Felix's feelings for her have gotten so intense he's having a hard time containing himself while being around her. Even though, everyone on the island can see that he's way into her, she's still blinded by the fact that she thinks he's Gay. Until...he sheds some light on how he's felt about her!

But, now there's a new guy, Tyler, who comes to replace her sister Kate's position while she's out of the country to have her baby. He's moved in and captured Jen's attention. I love how Jen describes him the first time she see's him. “The walking, talking pile of M.A.N. Who strutted like a peacock through the foyer with Kate this morning during mid-rush. That's who him.” …...Sounds dreamy!!

Now with two men suddenly thrown into Jen's life, what's a woman to do? She's gone almost a year of thinking a man was off the market to her, he's her best friend, and now he wants them to be exclusive. Her own fear of her past relationships has her doubting herself, and she believes that there will be only one possible outcome – she'll fail at this relationship too, and lose her best friend in the process.

Then there's her very own “Adonis” as she also calls Tyler, swooping in all God-like, doing some major flirting with her.

Hmmm...I was actually quite pleased though, with the direction that the author took us with this situation. I was rooting for Jen and Felix the whole book, and cheered when she learned that it was okay to just let go, feel with your heart, not to over think things, or have to try to fix everything. I finished the book with a smile on my face, and can't wait to read whatever else Ms. Christian has in store for her readers!

I love Sophia's (much) younger sister Tia. She's a spunky, carefree, free-spirited woman who lives her life to the fullest, and when Sophia breaks down and tells Tia that her life has fallen apart, baby sister comes to the rescue by making plans for her and Soph to go on an adventure together. A trip to get Sophia out of her depressed slumber and back to the living. They go to Mexico, where Tia's “lover” lives, which, coincidentally, is also where Sophia and Brandon went on vacation together after they graduated college. Sophia's fresh start away from ground zero with her sister, brings back all sorts of memories of her and Brandon's time there.

Ms. Toler does a fantastic job with having the story set in the present, but actually a lot of it was told from both Sophia and Brandon having flashbacks. Going back to how they met, how hard it was for Brandon – the player with a bad rep – to get Sophia to agree to go on a date with him...I loved that part! To when they first made love, the proposal, etc... They were perfect for each other, right from the start. I love the confidence Sophia has with herself, with her “Go on then. Do it.” line she uses, but she sort of loses that beautiful confidence the longer they're married, towards the end of the book though, that fire is re-ignited within her and that was awesome!

If this book were to be a movie (and it should be), it would definitely be something that sisters should go and see together. “Wrecking Ball” truly is a beautiful, romantic story that revolves around Brandon and Sophia; what they have to do to get back to the way things were before her love was taken for granted, but it's also a very moving and inspirational story about sisters. There aren't enough words to describe how much I loved this book, but I have to admit, you will need a box of tissues handy when you finish reading it. It's absolutely going onto my top-shelf as a favorite that will be re-read many times over.

Story starts out with Lisa Adams being offered the job of a lifetime at a very high-end PR firm. Elite PR & Marketing. Although when she signed the dotted line at the bottom of her contract, she had no idea she'd be signing her soul away to one of the most lethal and seductive demons of the underworld.

Then we fast-forward 5 years to where Lisa has worked her way up the corporate ladder. She's beautiful, has a great home, and the perfect job. Just not the perfect love life, and this is where the plot thickens. Her boss, Samuel, starts making advances on her, makes her feel sexy and desirable, but at the same time, she doesn't want to go down this route for fear of jeopardizing her career. Also poor Lisa starts to think that she's somehow gone bat-shit crazy with the hallucinations she begins to have. Hooded men with eyes that glow red, faucets that empty out pools of blood instead of clear water.

Just Samuel, her boss, biding his time – messing with Lisa as he waits to take what's rightfully his, but then walks Alex into Lisa's life.

And Alex is a man that I believe all women want to have walk into their life. I adored his character, he's sweet, the perfect gentleman, and sexy. He's the positive that will void all of the negative right out of Lisa's life, AKA – Lisa's Guardian Angel, who's been in love with her since birth, but once she signed her soul away, he chose to join the human realm to protect her. To do whatever it takes to ensure she won't be taken away from him. I just felt so sorry for him every time he and Lisa would kiss, since with him being an Angel, his lips would burn from her touch, but then I was super glad the moment that changed! Ha-ha!

I enjoyed this story very much, the author had a lot of nice details and explained everything perfectly. I look forward to reading the second book (and more) in the series!! If you like stories with Angels/ Fallen Angels, you'll love it!

I especially loved the size she depicted Lucifer to be, that would be a sight to see for sure!

Laid back is what Lisa enjoys, and laid back is exactly what Alex is...all wrapped up in a bow of sexy.

Yes, yes Alex is all wrapped up in a nice big shiny red bow of sexy! LOL

She wants to kiss him, she wants to embrace him, she wants her breathing to become difficult, she wants her heart to race out of control. – Looooooove that!

Looking at her, he sees the woman he's fallen in love with, the woman he fell from Heaven for, the woman he went to Hell to save. – Alex thinking about Lisa, swoooon!

I was asked to read this novella in exchange for an honest review, and I truly adored it!

This is a very sweet novella by Katy Regnery, and if you've read By Proxy, you'll be glad to hear mention of some familiar characters!!

Tess “Tessie” Branson is a waitress at the local diner, who's past has earned her the nickname “Fast Tessie”. She's no stranger to being used and tossed aside by men, and since she's never opened her heart to any of them, that was always okay. Until one night, when Tess has a rough night at work with some customers and their snarky mouths, she heads outside sans jacket to cool off under the stars in the cool mountain air, and is joined by the short-order cook, Lucas.

Lucas has worked there for 4 months since his release from prison, and he's noticed Tess, but hasn't spoken to her. Figuring he has nothing to offer her as an ex-con, why bother? He noticed that she hurried outside without her coat, so he requests to go on break in order to see that she's alright after the mishap with the jerks and take her her coat. At the end of their conversation not only does she notice that he's genuinely being 'nice' to her and maintaining eye contact to her actual eyes, and not her breasts, he asks her to do a pretty off the wall thing. For a tough guy at least =P

Make a wish on a star before you come in,” he said softly, without turning to face her.

“It's Christmastime. It might come true.”

This is Ms. Regnery's second book I've read and once again, I loved it. It made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside, I couldn't help but smile as I read it. Also doesn't hurt that I am a holiday freak and I love Christmas. Might have to make her books yearly reads around that time of year!

Book 2 of The Colour Wielders Series is awesome! I love, love, looooved it. The way Ms. Raver writes, you get immersed and can easily lose yourself in her imagination. I love the world building for Severed Colours; as well as book 1, Colour Wielders.

SC picks up right where book one left off, with Arik handing Quinn over to his Bitch of a mother Morgana. Although poor Quinn has no idea what's happening and thinks the love of her life is betraying her, Arik knows his mother is her only chance of survival. Course even though the all-knowing Morgana knows what her son is up to, she still thinks she has the upper-hand...

Boy, was she wrong. (I love what unicorn blood does to her BTW Dawna, LOL, I lost it laughing..)

“After centuries, Morgana Le Fay's beauty was over. She looked like a zombie in search of brains as she held out her arms and grabbed at empty air”

LOL

So any-who, after Quinn goes thru her awakening in the Marbh Chamber constructed by Morgana, she's a changed person. No longer a child with baby-like skin, but now a woman. Her body, hair, and features all go thru a painful change, leaving her a more mature, adult Magykal. What's even better is that she and Arik soul-touch during the process, meaning that they will both be battling each others' emotions in their minds. This was pretty neat to see thru-out the book, I thought. Not sure if I'd want it done to me, but could be handy!

The author throws in a lovely – and crazy – curve ball after Quinn's Awakening, that really shocked the Hell out of me. I just sort of sat there and thought, Omgggggg!!! And I can't tell you!!!!! It leaves Arik desperate and no choice, but to summon the most powerful beings in all the lands. The Triarchia.... Where they have him answer a yes or no question with a no win scenario.

“Can love surrounded by hate, survive, or is the end of an endless knot forever lost? Yes or No?”

After Arik's answered and made his sacrifice, both he and Quinn will have to work extremely hard to get around this obstacle thru-out the rest of the book. Let's just say that I hate The Triarchia, and A lot, and you all will too, ha!

Although Quinn has changed so much from her Awakening, that after The Triarchia are thru with her, she's even more changed than before. She may now seem like a brat, but without her new attitude adjustment the story wouldn't make sense or get to where it needs to be.

Ms. Raver answers a lot of questions and ties the book up perfectly for the end, all the while, still leaving some things that need to be worked out for book 3. Which I can't wait for!

Things I loved -

Like I mentioned before, her world building technique and the way she writes her characters. Now I really want to go to the club Ersatz she made up for the book, LOL!

I enjoyed how the author has her characters dress like 'normal human beings', since they are Magykals living in a Magykal Realm, sure it'd be easy to dress them for the time period of beautiful gowns, etc.. But they still wear band t-shirts, jeans, leather jackets, etc... That's great! :)

Since I read an early version of the book, she is making some changes, and one of those changes is hysterical. Where Princess Quinn has her own Royal Guard, she calls them Mutts...In the version I read they were humans, but in the new version, they're going to be actual dogs that walk on 2 legs. Very different, and very cool. !

I had won an ARC of 'By Proxy' thru a Giveaway the author had on her blog, and I'm really glad I did. This is one of the sweetest books I've read in a long time. I could tell by the cover, I was going to love it. 'By Proxy' is Katy Regnery's debut novel and to me, she nailed it. I can only hope that if by some chance when I take that big leap and decide to put what's rolling around up in my brain to paper. That I succeed as well as she has.

Now, I actually have never heard of getting married by proxy, and find the whole process very interesting. I love the reasons of why the main characters of the book do it to help their loved ones out since they can't do it themselves due to both of them being in the service. That's very cool. Sure it would be weird, especially if you had to give someone else's vows to a complete stranger like Jenny and Sam, but I guess I'd do it.

The story is set mostly in a one horse town of Gardiner, Montana, where Jenny Lindstrom resides near her 3 burly Swedish brothers and her beloved papa. Her mother fell ill due to Cancer a few years back while Jenny was finishing college up in Great Falls, Montana. Her plans to stay after college in the small city to start a life of her own changes to her going home and being with her mother for her final weeks, then when she passes she decides to stay near her brothers and father. The author does a great job by making Jenny into a selfless, goodhearted, strong woman. A great character, all thru the book. She's someone you would be proud to call your friend, sister, or daughter.

While reading the book, I could have sworn that Ms. Regnery basically wrote the character about me. I identified so much with Jenny, it was unreal. From her love of Christmas and all it has to offer, the passion she has for her family, her love of dogs, and how she'd rather be in a small town than live in a bustling city. Her apartment even sounded like my style with the “Homey/Cozy” feel it had. I really adored Jenny's character. I also liked how she wrote her Hero Sam. Yes, he is an urban dwelling, womanizing, busy guy back in Chicago, but when he arrives in Montana and meets Jenny for the first time.... He leaves the city boy home and arrives the man he truly is. The man who realizes that the life he thought he wanted back in the Chicago, isn't what he wants at all after meeting Jenny.

Throughout the book, Jenny has a lot of revelations about herself, but Sam, also has some revelations; from having spent a lot of his childhood in Montana with family, his feelings for the state are reignited after spending a long weekend there with Jenny. Although Gardiner would be too small and offer no work for what he's both qualified for and accustomed to, there are bigger cities that the state has to offer, and love opens his eyes to this fact.

There are a lot of times that the book had me giggling, but the scene where Jenny makes Sam a crazy breakfast, had me ROLLING!!! I wanted to high five her, that was awesome and very clever. LOL..

I rooted for Jenny and Sam thru the whole book and I love how it ended, I'm sure I had a huge smile on my face! By Proxy is very, very sweet!! From the looks of the epilogue, looks like maybe Erik's story may be next? :)

Review by Krystle : Quintal's Return by Nadine Christian

I was offered this book in exchange for an honest review by Nadine, and was so glad that she asked me!

This story is about 2 sisters (Kate/Heroine and Jen) who run/manage hotels, and are now assigned to run the brand new hotel 'The Bounty's Retreat' on the beautiful Isle of Pitcairn. Coincidentally their parents lived on the island but left before they were born. It starts off with them traveling to Pitcairn on boat, but when they arrive near the island they actually transfer to another boat that takes them to shore. Which has Kate nervous as hell because she thinks she will fall into the sea. At first I thought Kate's love interest was going to be Captain Drew, from the first boat that they started out on. But soon realized it was going to be the Captain of the Longboat that they've transferred to, named Bryce.

And what a love interest he turned out to be *fans self*

Bryce is a local, knows his island, his boat, everything by the back of his hand and now this beautiful woman falls into his life, you can tell that she's thrown him of his game a little bit since a while ago he'd sworn to himself he would be a permanent bachelor. He's helped build the hotel, as well as the other islanders. He's kind of like the Do-It-All kind of guy of the island. What woman wouldn't want a man like that? Knowledgeable, good with his hands, good looking??? Ms. Christian wrote her characters very smart for this book. She made them all extremely loveable to the reader, and even had you feeling sorry for the villain of the book Celia.

This book has a great cast of characters with a well thought out story line, and I enjoyed it very, very much! I have definitely recommended this book to friends and will continue to do so with the rest of her work from now on. Can't wait to see what else she writes up for us in the future!

Also-

The island way of living is very charming in itself, and that reflects from her writing, seeing how she lives on one. I would love to someday visit and meet great people who go out of their way to help others with anything they needed. There needs to be more people like this in the world.

 Sky: The book starts of mysteriously, with a woman and her ‘chosen ones’.  They call her Mother. Mother claims to hold the vessel of Humanity’s Last Hope. Though is sounds cryptic, she explains to her men in hoods, they are chosen for their special abilities to guard and protect it at all costs. There will be a time when humanity will be in danger, though she not exactly sure when, she knows it’s bound to be soon.

Krystle: The whole thing is brilliant, really.  It has a mixture of different religions and beliefs. Wiccan, Christian, etc,.

Sky: and even Greek Mythology!

Krystle: It was a fantastic idea, the whole Wicca party of it, haven't read many "witchy" type of books really, though I do love any show related to witchcraft. Fun. I love any kind of Greek god added to any book. I am so hooked!

 Sky: For any fans of either genre, you will not be left disappointed with the characters and their abilities. We also have a few more hunks to add to the book boyfriend list, but I’ve claimed Lucian!

Krystle: I claim Evan!

Sky: *laughs*
 Friend 1: Wait a minute! No way, there’s no claiming anyone till we all get a good read!

Friend 2: Yeah, aren’t you ladies running out of space in your book boyfriend vault? Give those guys some room to breathe!

Sky: Hmmm, we’ll work on trades later *winks* Maybe...
*deviously takes a sip of her wine, a big one*

 Krystle: So who was your favorite characters, and who are you staking your claim on?

Sky: Lucian! Hands down.
I have to admit that I felt awful for Lucian the whole story. He gave up his previous life, and you can just feel the regret with almost every scene, as he often wondered what life could have been like if he wasn’t in servitude of such an evil man. He’s heroic, intelligent, and handsome *winks*

 Krystle: Yes, I did feel badly for Lucian, tricked into his life by Aries. *frowns*

Sky: Man oh man, I sympathized for him the entire time. He dreamt of the “What if’s” always stuck in enslavement for a malevolent man, to never be treated with respect, always feeling undeserving.

 Friend 2: So who captured him?

 Sky: Not that he was captured or anything, but he was tricked into a life to serve the God of War. Aries. Lucian was one of the hooded men chosen by The Mother to guard the vessel.

 Krystle: He was lounging about by an old tree, when Aries approached him. And Aries was *not* in the mood to be cheerful. Trust me.

 Sky: Was absolutely pissed off at the Mother, and he was going to do anything it took to get that vessel from her guard. And he does so, by starting with persuading Lucian to join him, to turn his back on his brothers. Lucian Agrees, and both are set off for the mission. The mother, brings the vessel to Aphrodite to take and hide with it after a series of attacks have been made on her men. Shortly after, that's when we are taken to Chicago, modern day.

 Krystle: Here, we meet Zoe, who works for a vet and is the current protector of the “Gateway”. Although, at the time she has no clue. All she knows is that she wears a locket around her neck that has sentimental value to her. After her mother's death, her father sent her to be raised by her mother’s siblings (a coven of Wiccans), out in the country in their farm house.

Sky: At some point, after Aries and Lucian finally managed to get their hands on the vessel from the Mother, and realize it's not as simple as attaining the vessel. They soon realize they will also need the key to the gateway. Another mission Aries and Lucian are sought off to accomplish.

Krystle: One night after work, Zoe notices something isn't right and sees she's about to be ambushed by one of Aries and Lucian. She gets away from him only to be manhandled by another man, Evan, a Templar, and once in the safey of the house, he admits to being her life long protector as well.

Sky: Manhandled *dreamy sigh*

Krystle: *laughs and nudges Sky playfully with her elbow* Back off, chick. Don’t you forget who owns the keys to his shackles!

 Sky: Don’t forget who has a copy of that key!

 Krystle: *gasps, playfully astonished* Woman! No more chocolate for you!

Sky: *Falls back laughing, spilling some wine on her blouse* Gah! Dangit!

Krystle: That's clearly a sign you are in the wrong!

Sky: Nothing a Greek God can't fix for me. That's why I keep them around! *snaps her fingers playfully beckoning a Book boyfriend*

Friend 3:  Oh, was I not supposed to make a copy of the master key I found?  Well, I am not giving it back. I had a peek of Evan too, and I am so not giving this baby up.

*the girls all giggle wildly*

 Krystle: You know, if they ever did a movie for this or something, I could see Evan as kind of a skinnier type of Chris Hemsworth... at least his deep voice.... *laughs*

 Sky: I’ll never see you again if that were the case, you’d have that shit on repeat! I see it now! *laughs*

 Krystle: Go Thor Go!!! *laughs again* Really though, I liked Evan. He was bound to his duties and was loyal to them without question and how he kept Zoe’s ass in check a few times when she was all, Me, Me, Me.

 Sky: I agree! I felt for his struggle between making his grandfather proud of keeping his duties in check and battling the emotions he felt for Zoe after all those years he watched her grow up. What were your thoughts on Zoe?

 Krystle: I would have liked to see more of Zoe learning how to hone in on her powers throughout the book. This was my first "Witchy/Wiccan" type of read and I really like the idea of it. After she learns how to master them I'm sure she'd be a pretty bad-ass Wiccan. What did you think about her relationship with her father?

 
Sky: I was a tad emotional when it came to their scenes together. I could identify with Zoe and her emotions easily as she let her father back in her life. I can imagine the surprise she felt as she saw him standing at the front door, wanting to kill Evan for inviting him. *chuckles loudly* But all in all, I rooted for them the entire time. What other characters did you like?

 Krystle: Also liked the two Coven sisters Crystal and Daisy. They seemed cute and goofy…

 Sky: Agreed. For older chicks, they certainly were badass! What about Zoe’s and Evans relationship? It was so rocky at first. Then we are mind blown in the end.

Krystle: Oh, I know, right! She and Evan had an extremely heavy case of a Love/Hate relationship, but I am glad it worked out in the end.

Sky: Talk about one hell of a power couple, eh?

Friend 2: Ugh. This already sounds interesting. Sounds like a good world buildup and I can tell the characters stuck with you guys, must really be a great read.

Friend 1: Yes! A good relationship with the characters is so important. You both are practically glowing gushing about them!

Sky: Indeed! Every character plays such a vital part in this story. I really appreciate that, and there are no loose ends! Each character has a significance to thicken the plot and heighten the adventure.

 Krystle: Yes! It had strong character building with a lot of back story. Doesn’t leave you questioning anything in between.

Sky: I just know you guys will enjoy this story. The authors really did a great job with stringing together an epic tale with their knowledge and research on such an extensive genre.  

 Krystle: Definitely, a job very well done!

 Friend 2: *pulls out her Kindle* Count me in. What’s it called again?

Review The Blue Door by Christa Kinde

This was a well written, fantastic Biblical adventurous tale of a girl who encounters a very special situation. Unlike many paranormal books of Angels out right now, this is very unique as far as the Angels being portrayed goes. This focuses more on the actuality of God’s Heaven sent creatures who do good for the world. This was very refreshing.

This is a wonderful tale for all ages of the religious belief of God.

Prissie is a young girl in a small town brought up in a religious family. Taken aback when her innocent older crush reveals who he is, Prissie struggles to find the truth about what is really happening in this town of hers. He’ an Angel sent from Heaven.

This is about a girl discovering who she is, and learns just how much the Bible is true and affects the world, and how much goodness can be done by just believing in yourself. I recommend this to all parents who have been searching for a good read that would motivate, inspire and set a good example for their children.
