The Vixen and the Vet
Katy Regnery
Burned by an unreliable source, Savannah Carmichael, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get her skin back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.
After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he's lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress and a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.
Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after

Ms. Regnery really outdid herself with
“The Vixen and the Vet”.
Honestly, 5 stars, just isn't enough.
This IS an all-American love story,
that I can truly see being turned into a classic. At least for me.
After I finished reading it, I told the author how speechless I was,
and that I was an emotional mess – in a good way – and, hours
later, I still, pretty much feel the same.
This book put me thru so many emotions;
I laughed, I was sad, I was angry, I felt anxious, and I cried. At times, I
didn't even know I was crying until I caught myself either sniffling
or swiping the stray tears from my cheeks. I don't think you could
describe this book in one sentence, better than the author did.
“Think Beauty and
the Beast with the Star Spangled Banner playing in the background”
Savannah, who's sort of lost and dumbstruck after she lost her her
job at a HUGE newspaper in New York City, returns home to Danvers, VA
for the summer. Caught up in scandal and hurt by someone she thought
she could trust, she's now a broken woman at an all-time low, back
at her parents house, watching as her jovial, younger sister prepare
for her wedding day. Talk about being dealt a bad deck of cards in
the game of life! Then, you have Asher, a sweet, sweet man who was
disfigured while in the service years prior, living his life
practically classified as solitary confinement, in a mansion
overlooking the town. He's sort of built this, fortress around
himself, allowing no one in to get close or to get to know the real
him, except for an old family friend that is now his house keeper,
Miss. Potts (clever naming her btw!) who actually turns out to be quite
the matchmaker, if I must say! That sneaky woman, ha!
Asher was content to live alone in his castle on the hill, secluded
from everything and everyone, that is, until, young Savannah was offered at a second chance to redeem herself as the woman she once
was...and comes knocking on the beasts' door...
Anyone who reads romance NEEDS to read this book, I promise you, you
won't regret it. I especially love the fact that for the first 2
months of being published, the author will be donating half of the
earnings towards the charity for wounded vets called Operation
Mend. LOVE THAT!!!
I actually highlighted a lot of lines and quotes from this story
because I got that “butterflies-in-your-stomach” feeling A LOT!!!
I like to listen to music as I read, and when I read the lines
“I'm not fit to
rejoin the human race. But now he was. And Savannah had made him want
a second chance at living...”
The song that was being played was “Chances” by Five for
Fighting, I thought it was the PERFECT song and what great timing!!
Thank you for writing this story Ms. Regnery, I will cherish it,
always!

KATY REGNERY, award-winning romance novelist, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own.
As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of five Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings, their friends and family. Katy is also the author of the Enchanted Places series, launching in January 2014 with Playing for Love at Deep Haven, which will be followed by an additional seven books throughout 2014-2016. In addition to contemporary romance, Katy also writes paranormal romance under the pseudonym K.P. Kelley. It’s You, the story of star-crossed lovers, takes place in northern New England and the forests north of Quebec.
Speaking of forests, Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods and her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.
