Love In The Dark by Isabel Pietri- Blog Tour !!! Hosted by Sexy Books Blog

LOVE in the DARK
(MILAGROS & ADRIAN)
(VOLUME 1)
BY ISABEL PIETRI
A romance novel of a young woman who works for TARU, an elite unit within the NYPD. She suffers a traumatic experience that leads her across the country where she finds love and adventure.

BLURB

NYPD surveillance expert, Detective Millie Angeles knows well that scintillating things can transpire under the cover of dark. Some of them happen to be quite pleasurable. Others, however, are nothing short of deadly. LOVE in the DARK lifts the cloak of darkness on one woman’s action-packed life, revealing high action and erotic encounters that are certain to enthrall and excite anyone who loves their intrigue served with plenty of sauce.
               In the sordid, shimmering streets of New York City, Millie has made a name for herself working in the elite TARU unit of the New York Police Department as the go-to girl for surveillance and tracking. However, when tragedy occurs, she finds herself casting about for a new chapter. That all falls into place when she lands a job at a private company, which dispatches her to the West Coast to work for Adrian Zaragosa, a blind, and strikingly handsome owner of a winery estate in the Napa Valley. As the plot thickens and their passion sparks, Millie finds herself in the throes of both extreme danger and overpowering desire. Millie’s talents seem to be just what Adrian needs. Or is he simply manipulating a situation to have her near?
               Blood-pumping and heart-racing, LOVE in the DARK will leave readers wanting more, and perhaps even begging for it. It’s Fifty Shades of Grey and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo commingling into one irresistible read.

               “A cop gets more than she bargained for when she agrees to be the director of security for a mysterious business man in this debut thriller.” – Kirkus

Read the first few pages and you will be find yourself obsessed with this book! I dare you to read the first 5 pages and not want to keep going!” -PCTECH334
“I love this book! The detail the author used in describing scenes and situations really allowed me to become so fully engrossed in the book that I was upset when I completed it and wanted more. I could not recommend this book more. If you like suspense, romance, and little bit of erotica this is a must have. Also, who can resist a book when it's the female that saves the day.” –SHOE LOVER

I am a retired Labor Union President from NYC. In retirement, I have taken up the craft of creative writing, which has been a life long passion of mine. I have one book published, "LOVE in the DARK"  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GQKHDMQ. The second book in the trilogy, "The Black Calla Lily" is almost done. Aside from being a published author, I scuba dive, fish, golf, target shoot, drink good wine, love vodka martinis and read.

SEXY BOOKS BLOG INTERVIEW:

IN FIVE WORDS PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR WRITING STYLE:
My writing style is conversational.

TOP THREE FAVORITE TITLES (BOOKS OR MOVIES):
Gone with the Wind, Casa Blanca, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

DO YOUR LEADING CHARACTERS COME FROM ANY PLACE IN PARTICULAR?
You could say they are a composite of myself, my husband and people I know, past and present.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR DOWN TIME?
I read, write, play with my dog and two cats, play golf, swim, scuba, watch movies, drink good wine and observe people.

TOP FIVE SNACKS WHILE WRITING:
Wine (red or white, but mostly red, Malbecs from Argentina).

WHAT'S YOUR WRITING PROCESS?
I daydream constantly re-playing a drama over and over again, tweaking here and there until I like the drama in my head. Then and only then do I sit to write. Once the actual writing starts, I find the story writes itself.

TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR BOOK, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OR CHARACTER?
I love all the characters in LOVE in the DARK. Mr. Z is easy to love, but Millie is my favorite. Her character is complex. She is a rough and tumble sort of gal while at the same time loves playing the role of submissive to Mr. Z. Millie's sense of justice, her loyalty, and courage culminate at the end making it my favorite part of the book.

WHAT IS THE CRAZIEST THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
Umm....I'd rather not say.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING A WRITER?
I like writing for the sake of writing. To be able to use language to evoke emotions and thoughts and draw a person into an imaginary world where they can let go of reality for a while is a good feeling. Then there is self-discovery. I never thought I had the language to write explicit sex scenes. Imagine my surprise! Entertainment is what it is all about.

A Booknatic Review: Lightning Over Bennett Ranch by Amber Daulton

Lightning Over Bennett Ranch by Amber Daulton
Novella
Cowboys, YUS!
BlurbMelody Bennett’s parents trampled on her teenage romance with a drifter ten years ago. He disappeared without a word of goodbyes on the night they had planned to run away together. Since then, she cast aside her foolish notions of happily ever after and worked hard alongside the hired help to care for the majestic horses on her family’s ranch. She refused to give love another chance and resigned to live her life alone. Max Fortaine returned with a heart guarded by secrets and a sizable bank account that took blood, prayers and tears to fund. The cowboy disrupted Melody’s peaceful existence with stolen kisses and a promise for more. After a lifetime of running, mistakes and regrets, he vowed to reclaim the only woman he ever loved… if only her overprotective father didn’t stand in his way

OUR RATING: FIVE STARS!!!
That's 10 in total if you count Krystle's and mine together, LOLOL!

Sky's thoughts:
When a second chance at love comes knocking on your door – or moves next door in Melody Bennett’s case – would you answer?
Twenty-eight year old Melody Bennett has sworn off dating after realizing her expectations in men may be set too high. Expectations which had revolved around one boy she’d fallen in love with at seventeen years old; a young drifter who her father had hired as a stable-hand and who ultimately left her high and dry after promises of leaving her life behind for new adventures in the big world she’d yet to explore. Max.
When the day came to set off on their own, he mysteriously vanished.
She felt heart-wrenched. Used.
Flashing forward, Melody, now training the horses on her father’s ranch, has one love in her life, her horse Lightning. She wholeheartedly believed she’d never love anything more than this horse that brings her so much joy. Often times, she misses the companionship of other human beings but the lingering thoughts of her past heartache quickly derail that thought . . . may still be too soon to open her heart to any more risks
 That is, until she overhears banter among the old men on the ranch how Max had returned.
As truth prevails and a close encounter threatens everything she learned to love, a new, yet stronger bond is made.
I absolutely loved this short, southern-sweet tale and would absolutely love to eventually see more from these two characters and this gorgeous setting! Perhaps we will get a prequel? A story set back in time when they first fell in to the day he vanished? =D
I feel like a lot of girls including myself could find a little of ourselves in Melody; for her love for her horse, for her determination and overall outlook on life. I love how she chooses not to lose herself in a strew of men, to stay focused on keeping her life on track and staying true to her feelings. That is empowering for women everywhere!
I will be recommending this to all my friends!
Thank you, Amber, for thinking of us at the Booknatics to voice our thoughts on this novella, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Krystle's Thoughts:
This is a very sweet, bite-sized western style romance that'll leave you with a smile on your face. Poor Melody was cheated out of the only “real” love she ever knew at the tender age of 18, then swore to herself she wouldn't love again. Working on her father's ranch , she's kept herself busy by training and breeding horses, but lately since her friends and family were marrying off and starting families of their own, she'd been thinking of him a lot. Not to mention her mother, who I'm sure meant well, was trying to set Melody up with her cheating ex-boyfriend.
I really liked how spunky and snarky Melody's character was, I would have been saying the same things she said when it came to her loser cheating ex-boyfriend! But Oooooh, I liked it even better when one of her fathers employees let slip that the love of her life Max was back in town...for good.
You could tell that the chemistry they had years ago was still stirring underneath their rough exteriors. But Max had to clear his guilt-ridden conscience once and for all before he could fully give himself back to Melody.
This book read at a very steady pace and I felt it delivered very well. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is in the mood for a quick cowboy themed romance!

When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. She’s happy being alone, sharing her life with her friends and family.

When Jeni starts a typical day in the big city of Mornington Vale, California, it turns from bad to worse when she’s involved in a chain collision on her way to work.

Her world changes forever that day because she meets Aiden O’Connell, the billionaire son of Alistair O’Connell, who owns Mornington Vale’s largest financial corporation. Aiden is an up-and-coming young businessman who's ready to take on the vice presidency of his father’s company. He is the good son, and it’s imperative to Alistair that Aiden succeed and follow in his footsteps. Life for Aiden involves working hard and not much else.

After the accident, however, Aiden’s world changes as well. He finds Jeni irresistible and instantly pursues her. With some coaxing, she eventually agrees to a date, and the attraction is mutual.

Jeni finds love quickly with Aiden, but trusting him is another issue. When to trust is tested in many different ways but comes to a head when Aiden is investigated for a serious crime. As her trust issues spark, she is forced to go through a journey of self-discovery.

Excerpt from the book

I turn to face him; he puts his other arm around me. We are in the same position as before when the last kiss attempt failed. My arms are tight around his neck, his arms around my waist. I look down. He lifts up my chin so I’m lost in his gaze. His hand goes back to my waist. He swallows; I think he’s as nervous as I am. He tilts his head and leans in … I back away quickly.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, looking hurt.
“Oh, no, it’s not you. I think … I might have garlic breath.”
He laughs and pulls me back to him. “So do I.” He pulls me in tighter, and before I know what’s happening, his lips are on mine. I give in and surrender to him completely.
This feels like one of my fantasies, only way, way better. He holds me tight as one hand moves from my waist to caress my cheek, kissing me softly but sensually. My hands move to the back of his head, and I grab a lock of hair in each hand. He moves our bodies so that I’m against the railing at the edge of the deck. He moves his hand from my waist to hold the rail as I still grasp his hair. The kissing becomes feverishly passionate; his tongue against mine as they intertwine with each other. Our breathing becomes faster and erratic. Our kissing becomes more intimate. We are in perfect sync with each other. I pull him closer to me, our whole bodies touching. My heart is pounding fast and hard. His hand moves from my face to the back of my head, pulling me tight. He moves my hair from the side of my neck, breaks our kiss and kisses my neck slowly and seductively. I sigh and breathe in a stuttering motion. I open my eyes to see the waitress standing there, gawking at us. I stiffen as I see her. He pulls back and looks at me. With my eyes, I gesture toward the waitress. He turns, looks, and lets out a little huff. He leans in towards me.
“Now that’s a first kiss,” he whispers as he grabs my hand and leads me over to the table. I can’t help but smile.

Love Me? (The Trust Me Trilogy, #2)
 Love Me?
K E Osborn

In the first book of The Trust Me? Trilogy, Jeni Taylor finds the love of her life, but as the second book begins, she finds herself lost without Aiden O’Connell, who’s been wrongly convicted of embezzlement charges and incarcerated. She must find the strength within to help prove he’s innocent while dealing with other issues. Aiden’s father, Alastair, still taunts her, making life between Jeni and Aiden more difficult, and an unexpected visitor enters their lives, creating havoc and turning it upside down. Jeni’s trust issues return in a major way after an incident leaves her fragile and broken. Aiden and Jeni find themselves going through more trials and tribulations than ever before in this second installment of the Trust Me? Trilogy. In the end, Jeni will be asked the ultimate question: Do you still love me?

Excerpt from the book!

My nerves start to get the better of me, I start to feel nauseous; those darn pesky butterflies attack again. I’m not sure why I’m nervous, whether it’s the shoes making me unstable or whether it’s the memory of our first date, our first touch, or our first kiss that’s making me bashful.
I turn the corner to see him standing there with a bunch of red roses, in the suit that he changed into earlier, this time with a baby pink tie on. Behind him is that gorgeous waterfall cascading down the cliff with the lush greenery surrounding us. As I take a step closer, I hear music playing. “Thank You for Loving Me” by Bon Jovi. It’s our song. I feel my eyes welling up as all the emotion and love I feel for this man is becoming too much to bear.
His smile is beaming from ear to ear when I approach. Finally I reach him. He holds out his hand for me to take. I take it, and he pulls me into a tight embrace.
“This is perfect,” I whisper.
“Perfection for perfection, my love.” He kisses my cheek, and places the bouquet of flowers on the railing.

- Review for 'The Christmas Wish' by Krystle -

I was asked to read this novella in exchange for an honest review, and I truly adored it!

This is a very sweet novella by Katy Regnery, and if you've read By Proxy, you'll be glad to hear mention of some familiar characters!!

Tess “Tessie” Branson is a waitress at the local diner, who's past has earned her the nickname “Fast Tessie”. She's no stranger to being used and tossed aside by men, and since she's never opened her heart to any of them, that was always okay. Until one night, when Tess has a rough night at work with some customers and their snarky mouths, she heads outside sans jacket to cool off under the stars in the cool mountain air, and is joined by the short-order cook, Lucas.

Lucas has worked there for 4 months since his release from prison, and he's noticed Tess, but hasn't spoken to her. Figuring he has nothing to offer her as an ex-con, why bother? He noticed that she hurried outside without her coat, so he requests to go on break in order to see that she's alright after the mishap with the jerks and take her her coat. At the end of their conversation not only does she notice that he's genuinely being 'nice' to her and maintaining eye contact to her actual eyes, and not her breasts, he asks her to do a pretty off the wall thing. For a tough guy at least =P

Make a wish on a star before you come in,” he said softly, without turning to face her.
It's Christmastime. It might come true.”

This is Ms. Regnery's second book I've read and once again, I loved it. It made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside, I couldn't help but smile as I read it. Also doesn't hurt that I am a holiday freak and I love Christmas. Might have to make her books yearly reads around that time of year!

About the Author

KATY REGNERY, winner of several regional RWA contests, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own.

As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of five Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings. In addition to small-town contemporary romance, Katy is presently writing a paranormal romance that takes place in northern New England and the forests north of Quebec.

Speaking of forests, Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods and her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.

Krystle's Thoughts - Home again, Home again by Nadine Christian

Home again, Home again
Nadine Christian

Blurb

One choice to make between two loves…but, who’s fooling who?

Home for Tina means family, Pitcairn Island and a job as an aircraft engineer. She’s not looking for love, so when pilot Blane Solis sweeps her off her feet, she is soon flying into the heady slipstream of romance…but, is he the one for her?

Tina’s childhood sweetheart, Connor Brown doesn't think so. What dark secret is Blane hiding, and why is he hell bent on ensuring Tina doesn't find out? Can Tina ever forgive Connor for what he did so many years ago?

One heart. Two men. A shattered past and an unsure future…with love on the line.

______________________________________________

The author asked me for an honest review in exchange for a copy of her book, and when I finished reading it, I had a huge smile on my face. Thank you Ms. Christian for letting me read this!!!

Book 2 of “The Bounty's Retreat Series” is great, it had the same charming effect on me that the first book had. I love everything about Ms. Christian's writing, she pulls you in and really makes you feel like you're in the story, her attention to detail is flawless. I feel as though I may never have to travel to Pitcairn Island because I've already been there thru the description of her words!

Story starts out with a woman named Tina, who's come home to the island after being on the mainland for many years, attending school then work, etc...Now, she's to start a new job as an aircraft engineer; servicing the planes that fly between the mainlands and the island, but the one thing she wasn't expecting was her new boss to be her childhood love. Connor. Whom she can't stand, and is the reason she left the island for in the first place! Ahhhhhh, what a mess, I almost feel sorry for this poor girl, but it looks like she makes out alright in the beginning of the book by catching the eye of the pilot who's flown her back home, Blane. Who by the way is a serious charmer, I would have been swept right off my feet just as “Tee” was. I love Tina's nickname btw!

Soooo, two men vying for Tina's attention! Recipe for disaster, but oh so goooood! I really, really loved this book, and if you've read “Quintal's Return” you'll notice a few returning characters! That made me happy, :) The author is very good at having you feel what the characters are feeling, there were a few emotional segments in the book where I wanted to cry right along with Tina. Well done.

I tell you, if I ever did go to the Island of Pitcairn, I would be lost in translation. It took me a minute to get used to the dialect that they use, since the author implements some of it's use in her book, but I find it very neat! I'd love to hear it spoken aloud. I'd probably be lost and end up with a goofy grin on my face, but it'd be worth it! Definitely recommend this series to others, 5 stars!

Yorley nor need sleep to be bautiful. Yorley es beautiful.” – Connor to Tina.

Review by Krystle: Taken By the Duke by Jess Michaels

Taken By the Duke
Jess Michaels

Blurb

An eye for an eye, a sin for a sin…

Amid all the lies and scandals that fuel Society’s gossip mill, one truth has stood out: House Rothcastle and House Windbury have always hated each other.

Lady Ava Windbury prays the feud will someday end, to no avail. One dreadful night, her brother accidentally causes the death of Christian Rothcastle’s sister, a tragedy that leaves both men maimed.

Consumed by grief, Christian makes a grim decision. He will kidnap Lady Ava so that her family will feel the pain of loss as keenly as he feels the loss of his own sister. But once he has Ava in his clutches, desire takes unexpected hold. Even more surprising, she willingly surrenders to his every sexual whim—after haggling over the terms of giving up her virginity.

Too late, he realizes she is using her body for peace, not war. But just as their affair of revenges turns into an affair of the heart, the past rears its ugly head to take matters into its own hands…

Product Warnings: This book contains scenes of erotic seduction, sexual revenge and the healing power of love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very well told story with a bit of a Romeo & Juliet 'ish sort of feel with a Dominating male-lead character that is really hot!
Two families that have been fighting for centuries, and for what? Not even Christian Rothcastle or Liam Windbury could tell you. They've just been too busy carrying out this family-feud, that they've almost let it destroy the well-to-do / decent men that they are.
When Christian devises an ingenious plan to extract his revenge on his worst enemy – Windbury – by kidnapping his sister Ava, he never imagined in his wildest dreams that he would come to have feelings towards her. He starts to fall and care deeply for Ava, knowing full well that this relationship has nowhere to go. But that doesn't stop him from having his way with her. And it was sexy, indeed!! I enjoyed reading this story very much and liked seeing them bicker back and forth with each other. Christian being too stubborn for his own good, and Ava, with how she wore a believable guise for her captor at first, but then lowered her guard once she got to know him. I guess you can also say that their story was a bit like an adult version of Beauty and the Beast as well, and I liked it!! Ha!
_________________________________________
The Duke of Rothcastle had awakened something in her with his searing kiss. And that something she feared, but also welcomed.
_________________________________________
I loved this line from Christian to Ava
Because when I kiss you, you return my caress without hesitation. And when I touch you, your body almost instantly grows ripe with it. A man with any experience knows these things. And by the time I am finished with you, you will recognize your desire as keenly as I do. You will welcome it, welcome me, even though it goes against any and every impulse in your mind.”
Had a very well written plot with a great twist that I sort of saw coming, but I just had who the villain had feelings for mixed up. I'm so glad that it ended the way it did, and will definitely recommend this to my friends :)
Krystle's Thoughts - On Dublin Street by Samantha Young
On Dublin Street
By: Samantha Young
Blurb-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ahhhhh I am so in love with this book and author!!! I couldn't put this book down, it's that good.

Samantha Young captured my full attention with describing everything that has happened in poor Jocelyn Butler's life; I couldn't wait to see her have the happy ending she deserved. I really like how it was sort of written thru Joss's eyes, but at the same time it would seem to revert back to her therapy sessions, and then pick right up to what she and her therapist were discussing. Very neat.

What I wouldn't give to live on Dublin Street and to meet a man like Braden Carmichael. *Swoon*

I enjoyed all of the characters and loved how Joss and Ellie got along, she is the sister that she's been missing. Seems ever since the “accident” that ruined Joss's life she's just been living for today, too afraid to get close to anyone since she thinks that she's some sort of bad-luck charm of epic proportions. And who could blame her. She's lost her whole family, followed by her best friend, all while in her teens, and now years later when things are finally balancing out for her, her world falls apart again. Before she knows it, all of the progress that she's made is all for naught and she starts regressing back into her iron box, as she calls it.

But, before her world shatters, let's talk about Braden for a bit..... Ohmigod! Can I just say he was...just amazing, ha! I believe I will add him to my Book-Boyfriend Collection! /Evil laugh..

Braden's a beautiful guy who just so happens to be the brother of Joss's new roommate Ellie. He's rich, smart, charismatic, charming.... The list is endless. I like how he could read Joss like an open book and see thru all of her bullshit – then call her on it. When Joss tells him that she's not going to be in a relationship with him because she has come to really like his sister and her apartment, he seduces her into an arrangement instead. Just sex. I kind of thought the whole time that it was a great ploy to get her to realize for herself that at the end of their 3 month friends-with-benefits gag, she'd want more...and it worked. :)

I raced thru the rest of the book, both not being able to wait and see what happened next between them, and also not wanting it to end. But, alas, I stayed up late on a work night to finish it! There were times when I wanted to physically reach thru the pages and slap some sense into Joss for how crappy she was treading Braden, but then again I could also get where she was coming from.

Very well written and sweet! Can't wait to read more from Ms. Young!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Btw, the scene where Braden was tickling the crap out of Joss and she broke wind..... I LOST IT!!!!!! That was too fun! I clapped my hand to my forehead and felt embarrassed for the poor girl, Lol!!
